Anything uncompressed, I guess.  I use AVI myself.

I use AVI uncompressed. I compress it after editing.

How do you compress it after editing? I user an uncompressed AVI, then I do most of the editing in Gimp and WMM, and then export it through WMM. Does that compress it?

Yes it does somewhat. And depending on your export settings in WMM it may compress it more or less.

Download the Xvid video codec, compress it with Virtualdub (video > compression > Xvid MPEG4 codec) and then save it as an AVI. Windows Movie maker has a bad compression. Compress the video after editing it in WMM, or get an editing software that lets you choose what codec you want to use.

You can use Format Factory for formating if you want.
