It confines background images to the sides of the channel
how is that a good thing?
minifig said it quite well. I just can't stand when people have images behind the body of the channel. It is too distracting in my opinion and doesn't serve a good purpose. The new channel design keeps that from happening. Hope that makes sense.

Ah! I was wondering why I suddenly lost 20 subscribers at once. xD
Nice that 'Bank' is out now, though. I got about a hundred new subscribers in two days.

You can't. Youtube is doing a cleanout of all channels that no longer exist.
What channels are classified as non-existing?
It doesn't really matter though.
If they're not active, there's no point in them being subscribed to you.
No loss.
Just makes your sub counter more accurate.
Yeah but they look so pretty I had around 1970 last Thursday I was like "Yay soon 2000!" and the next day when I woke up I check out my youtube channel and it says I have 1860 subscribers.... darn it I was so pissed 
although you are right it's good to get rid of all the inactive accounts.
Is inactive classified as not uploading videos? I think I'm safe, but I have not uploaded a video in some time. I usually comment on something a couple of times each week though, if that is considered active.
I'm pretty sure if you login often enough (like at least once in 6 months) youtube will consider that account active. Probably those accounts who were deleted haven't been used for a year or more.
Damn! My account was victim to it. I hadn't logged in, in about 9 months. Well I guess I learned my lesson.

Does anypony know how to add someone as a contact if they have the new channel design?
I've been trying to find it for a while, but I just don't see it. 
I googled it, and Google has merged the contacts and subscribers together.
It works fine for me.
Just press edit, and it'll be a "x" next to the channel's name.
I somehow didn't lose any subs in the process, instead I gained one. Also, apparently all channels will be switched to the new design March 7th, which sucks.
So, it will be impossible to get back the original design? That sucks!
