Re: YouTube

As much as I remember youtube asks you to link your YT channel to adsense account as soon as you are approved for partnership but I don't think you'd lose your partnership if you wouldn't link them. Moreover you don't have to put ads on your videos if you don't want to, it's really up to you, you can still get partner's benefits (like uploading a thumbnail or having a channel banner) and let your audience watch videos without annoying ads getting in the way.

Re: YouTube

I suppose, though there's really no point in being a partner if you're just going to opt out of advertising (there's also less incentive for Google/YouTube to make you a part of the program in the first place).

Re: YouTube

Wow, today was a very good day for me on YT. After uploading my new Skyrim parody, I recieved over 10 subs today! That is huge for my channel. Thanks everybody! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U50BCynPQM

I hate advertising on videos and the only reason that I used to want to be a partner (before I lost faith in Youtube) was so I could have that cool banner thing. And the text-box module on the chnnel.

Re: YouTube

I am currently 17, and I can't sign up for my own adsense account until I am 18. Should I just wait until the fall when I turn 18, or should I sign up for one now under my parents? Can I easily make another account when I am 18 and link that one to my channel?

Okay: What is the difference between a Machinma Partnership and a Youtube Partnership?

People that do gaming videos can't get regular partnerships do to copyright. But Machinima makes deals with gaming companies which allows people to get partnerships even if they do gaming vids

So a Machinma partnership is better?

Does anyone on here have an AdSense account and is it really worth it? I'm new to YouTube having only been on it for about a month. I've gotten 29 Subs in a little over 1 month and I'm thinking of setting it up. Any helpful information about AdSense and YouTube would be great. Thanks. mini/smile

Well if you are planning to become a YT partner then go ahead and get an Adsense account.

Thanks for replying! I think I will go ahead and do it because I eventually will and I might as well familiarize myself with it.

Re: YouTube

I still hate the new resolution button on Youtube videos. You don't really know what quality you're watching the video in until you change it, and I find the button so pointless.

When I was in a situation like this, I still made an account but I used my sister's name cause she was 20. When I turned 18 I just changed the name to mine. Basically they ask you to be 18 because you can't get paid if you are younger, so you can still get an account just wait until fall to get paid mini/wink

Not really, only in the sense that you seem more professional if you are partnered by them. But it is harder to get a partnership from Machinima, partly because they can't partner as many people as YT can

So it is fairly easy to make a new adsense account and switch it with the old one?

I used the same account just changed the name. Right now I think you can still change the name on the same account you just need a permission from google mini/smile I don't know if switching accounts would work.

Re: YouTube

This is slightly off the topic of AdSense, but may I ask you, Larry, at what point did you decided to apply for Partnership? I mean this in the sense of how many views were you getting when you decided to apply? (If you are willing to answer, I understand if not) I'm just wondering at what point would it be good to try for partnership. Is getting 2,000 views on videos regularly too low?

Re: YouTube

(not replying to Repelling spider)  you used to be able to take away surten words from youtube searches, can you still do that cause i can't figure it out any more

Lolwut.
But Spider, 2000 views will probably be enough if you're uploading pretty consistently, but if you're slow at releasing videos then I'd wait until the views went a bit higher.

Sure, I can answer. I applied for partnership in 2010 December, I thought maybe I'd get a Christmas present and be accepted, well guess what I had to wait until 2011 April to get a response from YT but I wasn't pissed at them cause I was accepted mini/bigsmile I just checked out my analytics reports and back in 2011 April I was getting around 1300-2400 views per day, so that's not much, however at that point I already had 1102 subscribers which probably made a huge difference when deciding whether to accept me or not. I gotta say that if I had to go through this process all over again I'd wait until I had at least 700 subscribers and 2k daily views with a rate of at least 1 video per month. With your animating skills I'm pretty sure you'll reach those numbers soon mini/wink

Thank for you reply! That does shed some light on it for me. mini/smile At least I know that its good to get the subscribers up as well as the views before applying, that's great info!

Re: YouTube

It confines background images to the sides of the channel

how is that a good thing?

If the image is light-colored and so is the text in descriptions, it becomes hard to read the text, the description box being transparent and all (gah, The Catcher in the Rye is getting to my head).  That happened once with filmyguy's old channel.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.
