Re: YouTube
Really my only problem with the new design is the inability to watch videos other than the featured video on the channel, the playlist thing at the bottom of the normal video pages is really annoying.

I'm really sad that we have to say to old channels bye bye... They were pretty much perfect IMO and I saw no reason to change them. The only issue was small thumbnails, so sure they fixed it for us with the new design, but the comment box, friends and other stuff is gone. I know you can see comments if you click feed but you can't see it when you first enter the channel. I just dunno why YT keeps changing the designs. I wish we had like 3 or 4 designs so everyone's channel could be more unique ![]()
I have been fine with most of youtube's updates, but the new channel design is just bad. Very bland, and just isn't as fun and streamlined as the old one.
I don't care much when YouTube changes its looks for a bit, but it's the usability that bothers me most. In the case of the new channel design, they removed any and every option for other users to see my favourites. That's terrible; it was a useful feature and I don't understand why they would remove it like that.

That's odd.... I'm able to watch MightyWanderer's favorites. ![]()
I don't care much about about YouTube changing the homepage, but the new channels are terrible. Especially compared to the old design (which I luckily still have), which I think looks really good.
No, you can still select an option to show your favorites and whatever playlists you want. Currently I'm using the "Creator" type of featured page, and when I'm logged in, I can scroll down to where my featured playlists are, and there is an "Edit" button. I click that, and then am able to select which playlists I want to be featured there, and which ones I don't.
I still don't really understand why they feel the need to change the channel design. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
YouTube wants to keep the channels looking "innovative." ![]()
Really, the only way to view comments is to actually make a comment and THEN post it.
Very sad.
Yes,the old channels were very good-looking (
),and everything was so easy to find.
Now i find no use to the new channel design-i frown upon it(and i frown upon people who like it).

Do you mean channel comments? If so, all you need to do to see them is to click "feed" then the "Comments" option that is right next to Activity. No need to make a comment yourself at all.
As far as the new YouTube layout goes, I might be able to offer a different perspective. I'm new to actually having a YouTube channel, as I've only had one for a little over a month. (though I've been watching videos for a lot longer) When I created my channel I went straight to the new layout. I like it a lot better for these reasons:
It is modern
It is streamlined and simple
It confines background images to the sides of the channel
It lists subscribers and views in an effective and simple way (up at the top of the channel in clear view)
And lastly, it has larger thumbnails
The old channel design was much too busy and distracting with the multitude of customization options. I like the balance of simplicity and customization that the new layout offers.

I'm probably the only one here, but I like the new design and homepage
. The only thing that bugs me are the templates. I wish for some more customization options. Also gee whiz! If you don't like Forrest's videos don't watch them. It's quite childish to start flaming about him. It's the Youtube thread, not the Flame Forrest thread.

This.^ Yup, I've recently switched to the new design (yes, of my own accord), and I'm actually liking it. All except the lack of "Friends." ![]()

It actually isn't that bad, the big thing for me is what you mentioned, there aren't that many templates, and you can't do alot of customization. Hopefully YT adds some more features.
As already stated, the comments feature is not gone. It has been put under the "Feed" tab.
Youtube appears to have updated their player. They now have an option to watch the videos at different speeds. Also the look has been changed a bit, more in line with the new channel design. However the textures of the buttons and stuff seem to be a bit fuzzy. Also, for some reason it is asking me to upgrade to Flash 10, when I have Flash 11.
Does anyone on here have an AdSense account and is it really worth it? I'm new to YouTube having only been on it for about a month. I've gotten 29 Subs in a little over 1 month and I'm thinking of setting it up. Any helpful information about AdSense and YouTube would be great. Thanks. ![]()

Well if you are planning to become a YT partner then go ahead and get an Adsense account.
Can you be a partner without adsense/ads?
