What is the best way to gain subscribers? Like to get your name out there? Without being one of those people that say "Hey nice vids, check me out and sub."
You must create good videos (yes I'm Captain Obvious 
) but only good videos do not help, there's some luck in it also. I mean I have this really bad film Freddy vs Jason in Lego and I mean it's really really bad but somewhy it got over 400k video views in a year while I have created so many more better animations and they only have 5-20k video views... Sometimes I just don't get it so I call it "Luck", some videos just get noticed easily, you just hit the spot. I know many youtubers who make awesome videos yet they have like 2k subscribers only while they deserve like 20k at least... So yes in the end what you need is good videos and "Luck". Take a look at Forrestfire101 are his videos better than let's say SmeagolStudios? Cannedgravy? No and hell no, yet the guy got lucky, his Batman videos were noticed and he became a legend among noobie brickfilmers.
Another way of gaining subscribers is being nice and awnsering questions people ask about your films. Then people will say, "Hey, he's a pretty nice guy who makes good videos. I should recommend him to some other people."

True that! I try to answer every single question I get, for example I dunno how about the others but I have sent quite a few PM's to Keshen8 asking to voice act in a movie (at least do a cameo) and he never answered me, I know that he gets a lot of messages but come on, create some generic response or whatever but respond. TheFourMonkeys always answer to my messages therefore I respect them more. Communicating with your audience is extremely important.

If you were to get hundreds of questions and messages on YouTube every day, would you be willing to put aside any Animating, social life, or free time you have just to answer essentially the same few questions 100 times for hundreds of people? Well in this modern world there's a thing called F.A.Q. 
you can answer many questions there so that the traffic of incoming Private Messages would be lighter. He has no F.A.Q. therefore when his viewer has a question (even the simplest one) he is forced to write P.M.

Good point, but even still, regardless if the person has an FAQ, people will still send you tons of messages asking you all sorts of stupid, absurd, or completely obvious questions (not saying that what ever you messaged him fell in any of those categories) regardless if you already answered those questions in an FAQ.
These spammers are creative(ish).

Nice work! I just finished watching one of your videos and have to admit I was pretty impressed.
As good as your vids are I was a bit perplexed that more people weren't watching them.
Seriously, Your vids are some of the best around, can't believe more people haven't enjoyed them.Thank you so much for making something I actually enjoyed, it's so hard to find that on YouTube.
Finally something new and unique. It really blows me away that more people aren't seeking out videos like yours, they are so much better than most of the garbage on there.
Sometimes making a good video just isn't enough. I know, I used to spend so much time making my YouTube videos and then have no one watch them. That all changed when I found

Basically what happens is they send you a ton of views to your videos. That helps you get ranked in the YouTube search engine which is when your views can really take off.
You should check them out soon, they have a penny promotion going on right now. Once I found these guys it was easy getting views for my videos, maybe they can do the same thing for you. Even if that can't it's only a penny, so you really have nothing to lose.
No matter what, I really appreciate what you have done with your videos. It was so nice to finally see something on here worth watching. Keep it up!

Speaking of those spambots, during my Youtube time I've received quite a few of them, but for some reason the most recent one of them said it was from ME and it had my youtube icon.
