Trying to become more active on my channel lately. More interactions with other users, and more videos. I really lost momentum when I became inactive. I went from 1,000 views a week, to under 500. So if you are planning to "take a break", by all means reconsider!!! At least log in everyonce in a while and comment on some stuff. Go to edit video info to change it into one of the pre-selected ones. If you want to upload your own you have to be a partner. For more information about Youtube partners go to www.youtube.com/partner

If you aren't a partner you don't get any new features I know that much
Monetization isn't partnership, in case you forgot, so don't just go asking only partners on how much you get. 
I haven't had any life on my channel in a while, but when I first got privileges for monetizing, I got around two dollars in the first week. That was when I uploaded my video. Now, since then, I have around two dollars and a couple cents. 
Though I do believe that youtube is handing this out like candy. Seems to be occurring more and more now.

Yeah, I noticed that too as my channel is not that popular (Max video view is 1,500). But hey! It's a source of income (however small) so I'm not complaining!
Is 1080p quality only available to partners, or can anyone upload 1080p, because it's not working for me, despite the fact that the video is in 1080p?

You could start a website, using something like this site I found through a Google search, and then Send the results to Youtube Through a message on well, YouTube.
While I do not detest the new channels like some, I would at least like to have the option to keep the old design.
Pinnacle Studio HD 15 Ultimate, and the problem fixed itself, so it's all good now. 
Where it says Click here to try the new channels design, they added this: All channels will be updated to the new design on March 1st 2012.

Well I'm getting used to the new channel design, but I honestly think it's a step back. The only thing I like about new channel style is big thumbnails.
Actually I don't really mind the new channels except that friends are gone, the channel layout is very busy, and it is hard to navigate. But I guess if we're forced to "upgrade" (if you can even call it that), I will live with it. 
But the large thumbnails are definitely a win.
