Well, if there's one thing you don't do, it's to sit down and try and think of an idea. Go out and see if something inspires you. Inspiration can come from anywhere. I am usually inspired by stuff like music, movies, locations, people, books, objects, pictures, the Internet, general stuff I encounter in life. I usually get/develop ideas when I'm at school or walking home from school. Also, if you have a pretty crummy idea, don't abandon it, with a little development it could be great.
Also, never underestimate how much a good shower helps develop an idea.
Music is the thing that gives me all my ideas xD, Oh and I did get one walking my dogs once.
