Topic: How do you sort your bricks & minifigures?

This is the thread where you share how you sort your pieces. I'll start with me:

I keep my bricks and minifigures separate, so I'm starting with my bricks.
I have a small rolling "dresser" that I keep most of my bricks in:

For my minifigures, I separated the pieces and put them in individual bags... (Along with a few other pieces)

And hung the bags on a rack I built out of TinkerToys:

(Sorry for the fuzzy picture)

Now I want to get ideas from how you sort. mini/wink

Edit: Hopefully this isn't too much like the "Post Pictures of your studio" thread, but I wanted a thread just for sorting purposes.

Re: How do you sort your bricks & minifigures?

I put all my sets in special containers, and my minifigs and bricks are organized in a container similar to the one in the first picture.

Also, I think this thread would better fit in the Bricks section.

Re: How do you sort your bricks & minifigures?

I sort my bricks by color in drawers and bins, and organize my minifig parts into storage drawers; I further organize my minifig heads by Paleface, normal (yellow), and other (skeleton heads, orc heads, etc.) [This is mainly due to Palefaces: Battle for Dominance, but it does make minifigs easier to create]. I hope to someday organize by bricks by the brick type instead of by color, or perhaps by both type and color for bricks I have a lot of, but considering how long it took to sort them by color, I probably won't mini/tongue

Re: How do you sort your bricks & minifigures?

I have a bunch of orgainizers, and I sort by part (except for bricks, those are sorted by color).  When I'm building, I find that I want a certain part but I usually don't know what color I want yet.  I tried sorting by color once (before I started brickfilming), but that didn't work because it was hard to find the part I wanted.  Especially the small ones, which were buried under all the larger parts.  I don't have all my pieces sorted yet, though.

With minifigs, I have torso and leg combinations on a few baseplates.  I put headgear and extra legs in organizer bins and older and more common torsos in a bin.  I put minifig heads on small baseplates stacked by similar facial features (glasses, facial hair, ect.), which is called the "Forest of Heads" technique.  0ld Scratch does something similar.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: How do you sort your bricks & minifigures?

I have a large bin full of all my LEGO. I'm too lazy to sort them right now. mini/sunnies

There's already a thread for this. No one's posted in it for a few years, but I don't think there's anything wrong with a bump as long as it's on topic.

Thanks, StudioL30. Could a mod close this thread, or merge it with the other one?
