Topic: Film Making Camera

Yeah, I know I haven't posted in like 3 months, but I've been looking into buying a new camera. This would be for live action filming but I might use it for stopmotion. My family's old digital camera just doesn't cut it. I want one that good for action films and has superb quality. I have looked at some camcorders but they seem like uncharted territory. While on Newegg, I went through the DSLR finder and it came up with these results:
Cannon EOS Rebel T3i
Also EOS Rebel T3i but less expensive but I don't know why
Canon EOS 7D

Now I know y'all aren't the DSLR experts but I hope y'all will help me. Let me know if y'all think I'm going down the right path with this or think I should go with a camcorder.

If you've got the money, go ahead and buy the 7D. Other wise buy the T3i. The 7D has more video options than the Rebel series(stuff you could do in post production). Also the 7D has better shutter build and boasts its 8fps shooting when you hold the shutter release down. But its twice as much as the T3i. I have the T3i and the articulating screen has definitely been a plus when it comes to videoing live action and family events. By the way, I wouldn't buy a camcorder because the affordable ones don't have good low light capabilities compared to dslrs. And I would suggest reading lots of photography stuff, such as learning all of the fundamentals because that really helped me out. I would recommend exploring the Canon Digital Learning Center.

I think I am going to go with this Canon T3i from best buy because for one I am a beginner photographer and I am on a budget. So yeah..

Also, does the lens on my link look ok?

The 18-55mm lens is apparently okay, but word on the street is that you're going to want a prime lens for filmmaking.  This is the lens I bought for my T2i in addition to the 18-55mm that came with it. The 18-55mm will serve you just fine if you mainly just want to take pictures or if you're strapped for cash, but if you can afford it, it would be best to get a better lens suited for filmmaking.

Since you're on a budget, you might be interested to know that the Canon T2i is cheaper and is the same as the T3i, it just doesn't have the articulating screen.

Also, once you get your camera, you might be interested in this guide. I found it to be very informative on how to work around the limitations of DSLRs.

I have a tight budget but I still am going to get the T3i because I need the screen. Hopefully if I get some extra money I will be able to buy that lens. Also I think I heard somewhere that the T3i has a higher framerate on 720 and 1080p videos... idk. Oh well.

Anyways I got the Rebel and it is charging right now and I am going to hold off on the lens until later.
