Re: New Camera

Because it slows down my (2001 model) computer so much it's almost unusable. 480p is the highest I can go without the capture screen getting huge (I used MonkeyJam), and the computer slowing down. I'm going to try out HeliumFrog and see if it slows down my computer in there.

Re: New Camera

Oh, ok.

Re: New Camera

Okay, so HeliumFrog isn't slowing down and I used 640x480. By the way, how do you change the resolution of the LWCP9k in HeliumFrog?

Re: New Camera

Actually HD is a little higher than 2 MP but not above 3 mp. 1 megapixel means 1 million pixels. My camera, the Canon Rebel T3i says on it's menu that 2.5 megapixels is Full HD. That's Canon saying that too.

Re: New Camera

Thanks, VFS. So why shouldn't I use 8MP? I don't really understand.

Full HD is 2.5MP which is 1920x1080p, but we're talking about 1280x720p.

The 8MP on the Quickcam is not it's native resolution, it is interpolated, meaning that the software makes the image bigger by guessing how to fill in gaps. I think that is how it is, correct me if I am wrong.

EDIT:
Also, if your computer struggles with 1280x720, it will struggle worse with 8MP

Re: New Camera

I wonder if Stop Motion Pro will slow down your computer on a high frame setting.

Well, your computer is about 10 years old, that's old for a computer.  If any capture software with high-res frames slows your computer down, then you should get a new computer.  It might be expensive to do that, but it'll be worth it being able to capture frames in high-res.

Because video resolution won't get bigger than 1920x1080 when you export it.

Re: New Camera

Thanks a lot! And I thought I didn't need a very fast computer to brickfilm. mini/sad

Well, my computer doesn't struggle nearly as much in HeliumFrog, so I think I will stick with HeliumFrog. Also, (like I asked earlier), how do you change the resolution you are filming in in HeliumFrog? When I open it, It says:

Logitech Webcam Pro 9000
Filming in 640x480p

Or something like that.

Re: New Camera

I've got a question. If I set my settings in the Logitech Capture Software to 8MP and I crop it in sony vegas to 1280x720 then does it got better quality?

Either by selecting it then clicking the arrow when you first open it up, hit the option thingie and select your res. Or you should be able to hit settings and change it from there.
