Re: New Camera

Well, I was told that the video comes out choppy if you import pictures into MonkeyJam.

Re: New Camera

Well it's what I do and it never comes out choppy. It's your choice whether you wanna do it or not.

Re: New Camera

There should be no difference between importing images and taking them through the capture program. It's possible someone forgot to set hold to one in the import window- it's set to two by default, which imports each individual picture twice, effectively cutting the framerate in half.

The price varies depending on the version you get.  It's on the website.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Guys, 2megapixels is HD.

I am sorry, but that is just simply incorrect. 2MP is terrible quality, HD quality would be around 8MP and higher.

JP, that is incorrect. 'HD' is a resolution of 1280x720 or above. MP is the amount of pixels in an image/video. 1280x720 means 1280 pixels across, 720 pixels up(or down, however you want to look at it) 1280 multiplied by 720 = 921,600 total pixels, which is less than 2MP. Full HD (1920x1080), however is above 2MP. That is why a Quickcam Pro 9000 can produce HD animations on it's 2MP native sensor (1600x1200)

I've tried to make HD resolution videos with better camera quality than 2MP (5MP), and it turned out pathetically (even though it was in 16:9). I fail to see how 2MP can make an HD product. If you could show me an example (with screenshots, please) I would be more than likely to agree with you. From what I've heard from other animators about the QCP, though (I've never used one, so bear with me), is that it's resolution is higher than 2MP, it's around 6-8MP.

That's because your camera wasn't set-up right, or the lighting was horrible. The Pro 9000's main resolution is 2MP, it has 8MP but it's not a stable resolution. And if you want to see an example of the Pro 9000's 2MP, go watch 0ldScratch or CrazyEd again (They came into my the quickest, I bet there are more brickfilmers that have great quality too.).

You seem to be mistaking the term HD. HD is a name given to a video or image with a resolution of 1280x720 or higher. It has nothing to do with the quality of the picture, but only the resolution. However, generally a higher resolution captured creates a higher quality picture. As for the QCP9K, it's native maxresolution is 1600x900 which is 2MP. 1280 multiplied by 720 = 921,600 pixels = 0.9216 MP.

Looking at the post again, I can somewhat see how that can be HD.

And 0ldScratch puts his settings at 8MP, I'm pretty sure (Last time he said, at least).

Re: New Camera

Okay, I was wrong. I saw that the LWCP9k had 2MP on the Target website, but that was incorrect. On the Logitech website, it says "...snapshots at up to 8 megapixels." Also in the Logitech Webcam Software, I can take picture in Small, Medium, Large, 2 MP, and 8MP. As another point, I figured out that I have been shooting in 240p, and I am now shooting in 480p, and it looks oh, so much better. mini/cat

Do not use the 8MP setting. It is not a native resolution and it is of bad quality because it is interpolated.

Re: New Camera

If I may also add a point. Mega pixels are largely used as a marketing ploy. While it does have some effect on the quality of the image, the color and tone settings are just as, if not more important.

Exactly. The 8MP claim on the Quickcam is a good example of this.

Why don't you just set it to 1280x720?
