Re: YouTube

Hey, have you noticed that YouTube doesn't cut down the quality anymore?

Yes! My latest film didn't look like complete and total ass. I was going to post it on Vimeo, but I ended up not bothering.

And... I usually accept all friend requests... i dont know why but oh well.

So, I tried out this new Audioswap thing so that I could replace the song with one of their 'OK' ones, but it turns out that you can only replace the audio of the whole video, rather than just the copyrighted part. This annoys me.

So I guess that's 2,025 views down the drain. And the fact that you can no longer watch the complete Ben and Joe series. And does that mean I've got one more strike before I'm out?

That same exact case happened to me! mini/eek I was pretty dang mad, because then there is just no point in having music on it then, especially if your video has talking in it.

I'm wondering the same exact thing, can anyone answer this?
Because that worries me a bit, because I use copywritten music on almost every video... mini/sad

Re: YouTube

There is a small list of criteria for becoming a partner on the partner sign-up page:

http://www.youtube.com/partners

Basically, your videos should garner a few thousand views on average (while subscriber count isn't listed as criteria, the higher number of subscribers you have, the more likely more people will watch your videos, so subscribers does help in a way) and be a relatively frequent uploader. I don't think you need to upload on a timely basis. I make a new video every couple of months on average and YouTube still invited me to sign up for a partnership.

I've also noticed that YouTube's quality has been getting better lately. KG's "Dane Cook" films looks like they're playing on high quality even though the option isn't available on the screen.

I think we're going to be OK, because Antifaan has had three taken down and he's still around.

Re: YouTube

Hm odd, my old film DDL was removed about a month ago due to copyright music, and yesterday I decided to just replace it with one of Youtube's library of music, okay so that went all well, but now it's up with all the original sound and music! I mean, I'm happy about that but I don't understand...

Re: YouTube

In case anyone's interested, including music by pretty much any artist on this list will get your film yanked. I think the only reason my Ween videos have stayed up is because the tracks I used are from limited independent releases and not from their major albums.

Re: YouTube

Thats very interesting. I shall keep that list in my Bookmarks....

Re: YouTube

That is ridiculous.

Re: YouTube

While I still defend any company's right to protect their copyright, I wish YouTube would provide a way for user to replace the audio in their video with their own audio.  As far as I can tell, AudioSwap only allows for preselected tracks that YouTube provides to be used.  If they allowed custom audio, then these films that have audio that break copyright could have their audio replaced with audio that does not break copyright.

Hah, I hadn't noticed that. That's probably when one of the site creators was born.

Re: YouTube

I don't really like the new way of uploading videos, because the HD version is the only you can see and my computer is kinda slow. For example I can't see Hazzat's Toxic and TonVon's Dane Cook without my computer slowly downloading it.

Re: YouTube

You just have to click 'watch in normal quality' and then it won't be in HD, so it'll download a lot faster.

I assume that you mean watching, rather than uploading.

Re: YouTube

My Dane Cook video is in HD?

Re: YouTube

There's a difference between HD and simply high quality.

It's only HD if your resolution is 1280 x 720.  Otherwise, it's just high quality (720x480, for example).

If you're watching a Youtube vid that fills up most of the page (video expands and Description is pushed down), you're watching HD.  Otherwise, it's the standard view (normal or high quality).

Normal quality involves compression (for people with slow connections).  High quality plays the video as close to the original quality of the video you uploaded (little or no compression).

Re: YouTube

While I like HD, I wish people would stop uploading their stuff in that format.  Honestly, I'd prefer to watch a high-quality version of the video, because just watching HD makes my computer huff and puff.
