Topic: Question about stop motion pro Action!

Hello everybody,
As I want to buy Stop Motion Pro Action! ($ 70), I wonder if it is possible to capture in 1280x720 (720p or 1080p) with a QuickCam Pro 9000 because I have seen more than once writing to the contrary.

Thank you .

Re: Question about stop motion pro Action!

I don't think so. I don't have it, but people have said that the maximum is 800x600.

Re: Question about stop motion pro Action!

You may be able to export your film in 1280x720.  I've got Action! HD and even with either the QC9000 or the C910 I can't get an option to film at 1280x720 at 15fps, but I choose a similar letterbox format and when it comes to exporting the movie I just manually set the size to the above format.  It stretches the film nicely.

I think you can download the demo so I'd heartily recommend having a go at it as I find it's a great program and works fine with the webcams

Re: Question about stop motion pro Action!

Ok, thanks.
But can i shot in 16:9 (and in HD)  with Action! (not HD) ?

But when you upload your video to YouTube, just either put yt:crop=16:9 or yt:stretch=16:9. I suggest cropping though, it looks better IMO.

Or make it widescreen in your editing software.

Re: Question about stop motion pro Action!

Max resolution is 800x600.
But I think you should get Action! HD, it has A LOT of more features.

Yep, SMP Action HD! has loads of resolutions available but I'd say most are for 30fps.  If you shoot 15fps you'll find there are not so many options but as I've said above, you can export to any resolution with no sign of any horrible cropping etc

Cheers

Wha? As far as I know, all resolutions work with all framerates. Even though the resolutions have 15 fps or 5 fps next to them in the capture settings, you can choose any framerate you want.

Re: Question about stop motion pro Action!

Ya, if you go into settings there is an option to change the framerte.
I have Action Plus, and while the software is pretty good, im thinking about upgrading to HD, so i have the option to use my cameras max resolution

Another way to change the framerate is right-clicking (could be left-click, I'm not sure) on the thing on the left of the bar that says "fps" then a number. A box will come up that has a few common framerates listed, 15 fps is one of them.

Oh, and the image becomes clearer in playback if you choose View>Stored Frames. Use frame averaging, it helps with image quality.

Re: Question about stop motion pro Action!

With Action! or Action! plus you have a maximum framerate of 15 fps.
All of the high-end versions is up to 30 fps, and the Studio versions even is up to 60 fps.

Wow I didn't know that.  Thanks for the tip.  I shall try this tonight.!

Re: Question about stop motion pro Action!

I have a mac with the latest osx on it and am editing on final cut express 4.0. I am wondering what is a good inexpensive program that lets you do lighting and add snow and rain effects either to download or buy?
Thanks any help would be great.

Re: Question about stop motion pro Action!

Did you take a look at apple motion? It has a particle generator, so you should be able to do rain / snow. And costs "only" 50 bucks / 40 euros.
