Topic: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

I have got Logitech quickcam/webcam Pro 9000. And anti flicking is off, and all settings are manual I think. I have 40 watts desk lamp and 40 watts desk lamp, bigger and smaller. I have a problem. It's not gain flicking I think. But if I have a lego wall and the minifigure is in front of it. It's fine... but then when I get the minifigure out of there, the wall changes a little darker and it's very annoying. What I can do, please, help me! mini/sad

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

This isn't hard to fix. The unusual shape of a minifigure reflects light around the set, so when it's gone, the light isn't being reflected. I had this same problem, but I figured out that more props mean that the light is still being bounced around therefore if the minifig walks in/out the light won't change.

Hope this helps! mini/wink

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

Do you mean that I should increase props?

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

I've been having the same problem. Try lowering the exposure and brightness. Having settings too high causes flickering.
It seems to happen when there's a really light color and a really dark color in the same frame. The flicker is noticeable on the dark color. Having a light pointed at the minifig seemed to fix it. Unfortunatley, it reflects off the shiny bricks, making a big light splotch. There has to be a way to not have the splotch yet still have good lighting.

Alright... this is best tip for now, try to test it today. Thank you and thank you all who are helping me or even try it. mini/wink

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

I think too many people have this problem. It maybe fixed if to move desk lamps and lower the exposure and do some thing for gain. That's very annoying, but I think too many people have this problem. Maybe you could do like me, that move the desk lamps further away from the set. Try this my friends if you have this same problem and fix the options too. But it's not necessarily work. Try still. I wish I find new camera...

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

Hmmm....That sound's just like my problem. I couldn't find out what was wrong, so I talked to the Logitech Support people, and even they couldn't find it. But they did send my a new camera! And....it does the very same thing. mini/sad

But after many tests (over many weeks) I think I found the problem, the contrast is "set on auto", or at least the computer thinks it is. Not that it helps any, but that's what I think.

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

I've had the same issue, I just avoid those kind of shots if possible.

I really hope this gets an answer, I have the same problem with my Microsoft Lifecam.

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

I did a test a few days ago with a light pointed at the minifig, and the flicker was gone.

Hmm... I don't know what you think, because I think that too much light if the lamps are too close of set, but I don't know. I tested that the lamps are 20-30 cm away from the set and set the options like way that haven't got that light flicker. But I think the problem is in the contrast but I can't see "auto" button next to contrast options...

That's really huge problem, like pandemic. mini/bigsmile

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

Do you have paper over your lamps? That helps soften the light and reduce light flicker.

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

That's not help. Start again... I hate this! I believed LW9000 is good camera, (or webcams) but I have only see that annoying light flicking. And I know what the problem is. Reflection, if you have many objects with the set, no light flicking, but if you don't want objects at all. Light flicking, and that's !@#$ing irritating. It's very furstated and I don't know what I must to do. Buy new camera! Oh, this is awful. mini/sad

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

Hold on thar, Lajaka. 0ld Scratch uses a 9000 and he doesn't have light flicker. That means there must be a way to get rid of it. I've heard that you can get rid of light flicker in post production. I don't know how, but it's possible.

I had some light flicker in my Animation Challange entry. It happened when I had a scene composed of blue, green, grey, and a dash of red. When my character (colored dark blue, yellow, and brown) walked on, there was a bit of light flicker. A few steps in, the flicker stopped. It must be something with the colors. Sometimes when I put my hand too close to the camera, the light changes. Usually, the flicker is gone when a light is pointed at the set. I didn't have the lamp angled towards the set enough, that must be why I still had a bit of flicker. By the way, you need 3 lamps (one above, one front, and one back).

Frame averaging is the key.

Can 3 lamps impact better to light flicking...?

Re: Logitech Webcam annoying problem! Please help.

The thing is, you need to have them all pointed at the minfig. The more balanced the light, the less flicker you get.

Briks, you can still get light flicker with frame averaging. It does help make your picture quality better, though.
