In one test I made, a dive test, I used bafran to mask the guy in midair, but after I made the video, I noticed one masking frame had a different aspect ratio from all the rest. Why is this? 
Bafran always messes up the last frame of a sequence for some reason. A way to work around this is to add an extra frame to the end, and then draw a few random lines on it. When you export it, the extra frame will be messed up, but the original sequence will be fine. But I don't use Bafran anymore, because it's kind of unstable and the images it exports all end up being about 30MB each.

In my opinion, you could do much better than Bafran.
I would download GIMP, which is also free, but has the bonus on actually competing with Photoshop as an image editor.

It works on all the main platforms.
Mac, linux and windows.
I use Paint.Net and It works perfectly.
