I don't think it needs any window. It would kinda look out of place, imo. The set is fine, just make it taller (but I see you're already working on that). I like it.

this is basically a test, (that's why its so small) so please give me pointers so it can help me with the finished product 
this was a pain in the butt to keep up... its VERY unstable. i don't know how to make it a good stable structure to animate on.. 
Just a suggestion, but I think it would be cool if you made that crystal on the right wall glow like I did. Just need to put a brick with a hole in the wall and shine some sort of flashlight/torch on it. That would actually fit much better here than in mine, and it would be so cool looking.
Other than that, I think the table is a tad bland. Try making it a little interesting, maybe make it glass or do something with SNOT to make it smooth.

SNOT? .. yeah i made the table pretty quickly.. nothing special. i'll probably change it
Yeah, ya know, a SNOT table. Don't you know what SNOT is? SNOT is so useful for building.

So SNOT, S.N.O.T. means Studs Not On Top. Basically it's when you have bricks facing different directions instead of just right side up. And example would be my desk for Wayne Manor with the glowing stuff.

I think the studded table is okay, it just needs to have legs instead of it being solid. 1x1 cylinder pieces work well.
Did you at least try windows? I think it'll look great with some windows.

nope. i haven't.. but i don't want to go through the trouble of having to make an entire background for the outside of the window... well, maybe i could do miniatures.. what do you think i should do?

I've already tried that.. it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason.. strange, i know.. 
UPDATE: okay, I've made the light trick that ANP told me about:

It's certainly improved a lot, very well done on that. The glowing crystal is perfect.

For the view outside the window, make a small rock cliff. Then, put some kind of background behind it (black if the planet doesn't have an atmosphere or during nighttime).
The table is better. The cups would be potenital bump hazards, though. That's why I like studded tables better, things on top of them don't move.

nope, neither of them are attached. i will attach them using sticky-tack when i'm filming though.
I find that things get bumped even when I use poster putty. It's better than nothing, but it still gets bumped. I'm not sure if it's my putty or what. Then again, my long clumsy fingers always seem to bump something that isn't secured. I hope you have sticker poster putty than me and you're more careful than I am.
You could use jumper plates to attach the cups. That worked for me. And you should be able to put an ordinary grey plate under the table, right?

Jumper plates are plates with a stud in the middle. There are 1x2s in the gray your desk is made of. They also make them 2x2-saw some in the new heroica line.
There's a picture of one here if I haven't explained it well enough:
