Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

I have a walk cycle that may work. But they are hard to explain

Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

That was immensely helpful, Stevefrog, thanks!

legostothemax, I'd suggest finding some animators who use 24fps and study their walk cycles frame by frame... I haven't noticed any actual tutorials for 24fps animation however Mobiledeli was kind enough to post some of his tests on his Vimeo account, one of which was a walk cycle (in 24fps).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u6AwEu7 … mp;list=WL is a tutorial you can use. Also for viewing frame by frame: virtualdubmod. Apparently you have to download the video. I don't use but I've asked for tutorial and people say use this. mini/wink

Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

That's a pretty jumpy walk cycle, Mr.Rundown101. Nonetheless, it highlights the basic idea - just insert more mid-frames into a normal walk cycle.

Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

That is what I do

Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

After much difficulty in his explanation (a sentence fragment), Stevefrog's big secret has been revealed!!!

Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

Um... ok. Fine I will tell you. First a regular minifig stance. Then lift one leg up. Then lift a little bit off the stud with the other leg. Then balance the minifig in between 2 studs. Then put the leg in front on the stud a bit. Then all the way and lastly back to regular minifig stance..

Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

You know, the number of subscribers is not something that really matters here. Mcoov here is a mature and respected member. So, was it that difficult to say this in your first post? I don't want to be mean or anything, I'm just telling you.

Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

His post seemed pretty insulting to me

Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

He wasn't really insulting you, it was sarcasm. The problem here was that you said you had a walk cycle that could work, but you didn't say anything else, and that made your post pretty unhelpful and pointless. If you have to post anything, think before, and if there's something difficult to explain, take your time, nobody's telling you that you have to hurry. Now, if you have to hurry, write the full comment later.

Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

That is what I was going to do (and did), write the full comment later, I had to go to Orlando to watch my brothers hockey games. I wanted to let LegoStoTheMax know I had a walk cycle so he doesent give up because I know what it feels like to not know what to do to solve a problem. I am sorry mcoov, hope we can be friends

Re: 24 FPS Walk Cycle

What mcoov did wasn't any better, though. Stevefrog was already scolded by Sean (for the unhelpfulness of his post) but mcoov decided to put off-topic sarcasmic icing on top.

I haven't got anything against either of you but attacking only Stevefrog in this context is not the way to go.
