Repo Man
Not quite sure what the hell I watched, but I think it was good.

Fantastic movie, it got me into zombie films.
Recently, I was re-watching Day of the Dead, and it suddenly hit me what twits the scientists are. I mean, yeah, the zombies (or rather, the 'star pupils' among them) can
re-learn and recall certain aspects of their previous existence - so what? How the hell are they going to domesticate the vast hordes of undead? I'm not sure what Frankenstein thought he was working towards. The military may have been jackbooted @$$holes on a power trip, but they were in an increasingly desperate situation and were totes being jerked around. I'd wanna know what the eff they were doing with my time, too!
But I guess that's kind of the point, and what's great about the movie: three different viewpoints come together - the military, scientist, and civilian - yet no one has any concrete answers/solutions; they can only butt heads and talk a lot about domestication and God. What it all comes down to, though, is a couple of stunned survivors on a beach, haunted by dreams of being eaten before getting away, while the detritus and the oh-so-precious 'records' of humanity rot. Some might think it a 'happy ending,' but how happy is it really? All that head-butting was for naught; they're proper effed now, sandy beach or no.
I personally think George A. Romero's original trilogy are still pretty solid entertainment, even though Dawn is the peak for me.

I can't decide which I like better: Night of the Living Dead or Dawn of the Dead. That's not to say that I didn't dig Day of the Dead, though, I just didn't like it as much as the previous two. But still, very good.

True, and
I wasn't sure if educating the undead is such a good diea, it would for one make them smarter, and I doubt their instinctive need for human flesh would disappear.
EDIT:
Creepshow
Good horror flick. George Romero and Stephen King prove to be a great combination.

Good point.
Tonight I watched Brick, a noir-ish 'high-school story' about a dude who tries to find out who whacked the girl he was crushing on. The ultra-stylized dialogue in the mouths of high-school students was disconcerting at first, but after a while I just went along for the ride. The bits where The Pin's
mother popped up
were hilarious.
Now I've seen both of Rian Johnson's excellent movies, as well as the Breaking Bad episode he directed, The Fly.
The Wicker Man
Damn, that was pretty good.
I watched Duplicity. Hard film to understand at times. But it was OKAY
A Bucket of Blood
Awesome film, loved the style of it. !@#$ Miller is awesome.
Punch-Drunk Love
Loved this, awesome film. Adam Sandler was great, surprisingly.
The Funhouse (1981)
Pretty creepy slasher. You can see some similarities between Gunther in this movie, and Leatherface in "The Texas
Chainsaw Massacre." It's nice to see another slasher from Tobe Hooper after Texas Chainsaw. Nicely done, and the laughing fat lady at the end was hilarious.
The Deadly Spawn
Rather lame.
Ned Kelly
A fairly solid film with a few amusing and badass moments (god, that armor) to sustain it. Heath Ledger had the standout performance (not to mention the best Irish accent; hence no doubt why Orlando Bloom didn't get many lines).
Casablanca
I agree with Lamplight, it's an awesome film. I wonder if a Looney Tune was released with that film, as it is Warner Bros.?
The Big Lebowski
OH MY GOD THAT WAS AWESOME.
Avatar
Once again, a pretty awesome movie, though, i think it was better in the theaters. just because the marvelous 3D..
i really like how they ride on the big bird things, its pretty awesome. and also the floating islands.. a couple days ago i watched the 1 and a half/2 hour behind the scenes.. they spent soooo much time and money on the movie.. they had the idea when they were making titanic
anyway, i give it a 8/10
Have you met Max Butcher?
if you're talking to me, no. I've seen him around, of course, but not officially met.
He has the exact opposite opinion on Avatar. And because of that, the community doesn't really mention the film at all.
Because his opinions are mostly correct.
oh, cool.. well, anyhow, i liked ![]()
