What kind of Nikon lens do you have? And does it work without an adaptor for the T2i?
We actually use two lenses. Our first lens is a Sigma 24mm 2.8f Super Wide II Macro lens with a Nikon mount. We use this lens for all the wide angle shots. We selected this lens because it has a minimum focus distance of 7.9 inches and is wide-angle. Most wide-angle lenses only focus at 1 ft to 2 ft. Our second lens is a Nikon Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5 lens. We use this lens for all the close-up shots. We selected this lens because it has a minimum focus distance of 10 in. and because it is once of the highest quality macro lenses for under $200.
And does it work without an adaptor for the T2i?
No, the lenses do not work without an adaptor, but we are able to use one adaptor and swap it between the two lenses (depending on which one we were using at the moment).
*Weekly Update*
Sooooo... In the course of the last week we have been, as usual, quite busy. We not only have finished around another 30 seconds of animation, but we have completed a very important scene and made it so that we are now able to continue onto another segment (meaning new screenshots!).
We have also finished the first draft of the dragon. While the dragon is by no means done, this draft will be the core model. We have also been working hard on designing fairly realistic fire in After Effects (using no third-party software like Trapcode Particular). We composited an image of both the dragon and the fire below:
Please note that, as we mentioned above, neither the fire nor the dragon are completed, and the image of the dragon we took very quickly.
WOW, that looks awesome, BB. Absolutely love that dragon, I like the way the eyes glow.
What an incredible frame BB. How may I ask did you get the lighting so perfect?
That's pretty great for a first draft.
Wow, thats awesome! I love the dragon

Really awesome! This is going one really awesome movie!
I've always wished I've had the motivation and devotion to make as good of a brickfilm as you make yours. Love the aspect ratio- more professional looking. is it 2.35 : 1? (after looking found out it's 640 : 267)
Much impressive. Can't wait.
How may I ask did you get the lighting so perfect?
The lighting actually was not that good originally, but we toyed around a bit with color-correction and gave the shot a sort of vignette lighting to make it look more ominous.

The reason that you got such weird numbers is because this image was just cropped to look roughly like a 2.35:1 aspect ratio (since it is simply a test pic, not a screenshot). As for the actual film however, we are cropping it to a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, since it fits the "atmosphere" of our film very nicely.
Once again, thanks for all the positive feedback guys!
*Weekly Update*
Whew! After one extremely hard week of school (due to the fact that we had to do extra work to make up for the Labor Day holiday), we finally had some time to work on the film this weekend. We managed to not only finish that scene that we mentioned previously, but we also did some work with Adobe Premiere to get us used to its interface (since that is the editing software that we are going to use on this project). Sadly, we do not have a picture for this week's update, since we don't want to give too much away. Also, from now on we are going to give updates about every two weeks, since we don't want to spoil the film for you guys. However, next update we'll finally have another screenshot, so stay tuned!
Sounds like you guys are really devoted to this. Can't wait to see how this turns out.
*Update*
So, since our last blog post, we have been quite busy on many things. For one, we have been working on converting the dragon to a CG object (which is going to act as his double through most of the film). We have also been working on learning some new techniques in After Effects that are necessary for the film. We just finished (animating) a new scene too. We are not quite done with the effects yet, but here is a screenshot from one of the WIP scenes:
This screenshot also highlights one of the effects that we have been working quite hard to achieve - mist. The mist is 100% generated from fractal noise, since we don't have (and don't plan on using) any 3rd-party plugins such as Trapcode Particular.
Keep your eyes peeled as well, because next update we plan on revealing the largest prop that we have made for this film to-date.
man, you guys are very devoted to this project. i hope it turns out wonderful
anyway, the screenshot looks awesome!
i'm excited to see this film
Why did you just repeat what Onion said?
Mod edit: It was a spam post that was hence deleted.
Seriously this what more brickfilms should be like. Most people chuck a repeated overused story together, slap on some cheesy effects, and jokes and they think there done. I hope you go far with this project, please make sure you have copies you don't want to loose anything.
*Update*
Since our last update, we have had very little time to do anything, much less work on "The Squire and the Scroll." We have been very sick, and we have also been preparing for exams for school. However, we did have some time to do research on some 3D programs, as well as do more work on preparing for the forest sequences.
However, the REAL reason for this update is to show off this, the largest prop so far in the film:
Not the best image, we know, but please realize that we didn't take that much time to take the picture, and that the picture was taken in a garage with very bad lighting.
This castle is featured quite a bit in the film. It is composed of thousands of bricks and is pretty much to minifigure scale. We didn't put any minifigures in this picture because we wanted the castle to be the focus, but next time we show the castle we will probably have minifigures on and around it. Oh, and the fact that it looks like the Disneyland castle is intentional because that is what we based it on. We liked the "fairytale" look of it. Also, please ignore the landscape, since it will be totally different in the film, and some of it will even be CGI.
I'm just going to say HOW THE HECK DID YOU BUILD THAT?! Seriously, it covers like, 10 baseplates and it's so huge and detailed. You guys have to make some tutorials soon...
I'm jealous. Great work! Can't wait!
