I don't use the B&W Mac for animating

Unfortunately the 380ED has died, finally, after over a decade, its CMOS battery has gone, so I've retired it for now. The Fujitsu has fallen apart again so I need to sellotape it back up, add some chains to the lid to stop it falling completely back, add some padded wrist wrests, re-tape the hinges, re-do my elasticated lid closer, put a new Armageddon key on the keyboard, add a new cooling system and rig a wireless card in,..

Re: Post your hardware and software!

I really need to get my hands on a video effects editing program of some sort, but I'll probably have to spend big bucks to get anything good. As it is, I have mostly free stuff, but I try to do the best with it.

Microsoft Word and/or WordPerfect - for script writing. It's not how you write, it's what you write. mini/tongue

Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 - for capturing frames. I recently got a 9000, but I can't install it on my computer...

Monkey Jam - for capturing frames.

VideoMach
- for converting my frames into video files.

Gimp 2.0 - for doing special effects, such as mouth animation, ghosting effects, masking, and muzzle flashes.

Audacity - for recording audio and editing it.

Goldwave
- also for editing audio.

DDClip - for adding audio to my rendered video files.

Papagayo - for figuring out what mouths to have in a sequence of mouth animation, and for seeing how many frames a line of dialog is before I animate it.

Axagon Composer - for lasers, and lightning effects (and I can barely even do that)

Sqirlz Water Reflections - for falling snow or rain effects.

Also, does anybody know of a good free blue screening program? I've had Blue Screen of Life for a long time now, but it never seems to work very well.

Re: Post your hardware and software!

Computer: Macbook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo 2 processor. Runs BootCamp for Windows XP

Camera: Panasonic PV-DV102 MiniDV camera (currently in the market for a higher quality video camera, probably a Canon HV30)

Microphone: Samson C01U Condenser Microphone

Primary Mac Softwares:
Celtx - Screenwriting
Final Cut Express 3.5 - Video/Audio editing
Soundtrack - Audio editing
LiveType - Titles
QuickTime Pro - Compression
Audacity - Audio editing/recording (though the Mac version is kinda glitchy)
Adobe Photoshop CS3 - Misc. visual effects (I generally prefer After Effects over it)

Primary Windows Softwares
MonkeyJam - Frame capture
Adobe After Effects 7 - Video editing/special effects
Gears of War PC - timekiller

Re: Post your hardware and software!

I'm probably the cheapest animator ever.
Scripting- Celtx
Frame Capture- MonkeyJam
Editing-  virtualdub, WMM, and photoshop elements 2.0.
Microphone- *Sigh* Rock Band microphone (at least it's better than my other microphone)
Sound Effects- FindSounds
Special Effects- Wax 2.0, and Axogon Composer.
Mouth Animation- GlueFace
And that's all I can think of for now.
