Topic: I'm looking for a good camera

I hope to buy a new camera that is compatible with iStopmotion or Dragon.  But recently I've been interested in Live Action and what I'm trying to say is...  Are there any good cameras that shoot high quality pictures and high quality video?

I don't have one at the moment I'm just looking around but when I find something I'll go for it.

The logitech webcam pro 9000 will shoot in HD video and HD pictures but you have to connect it to your computer.

Well I'm hoping to get away from the Webcam Pro 9000 just because I'm in a video production club and the video is blury and also because the new webcam doesn't have white balance.

Re: I'm looking for a good camera

I would go for a video camera, because they provide a live video feedback.

Re: I'm looking for a good camera

I'd take a look at some of Sony's small camcorders...you can get some for $150-$200 with Full HD!(1080p, not 720p)

NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO...

Sony camcorders do not tether, which will mean remote will be needed instead.

NO.NO.NO.NO.NO...

They do not provide good live feedthrough...unless I have a bad cable :C

Re: I'm looking for a good camera

Okay, I'm back, new facts to help me out.  I recently purchased a 13" i7 MacBook Pro, so then I started to run boot camp, then I realized that boot camp kinda sucks so now I want to go completely Mac.  Meaning I want to run all my programs on the Mac side, so I need iStopmotion (Home) and I want a camera that will work with it.  I don't want to buy a webcam because I make lots of "Dark" scenes, so I think I want something like a Canon Powershot "Something or Other".

Otherwise, I could save some money and use Frame by Frame, and a Webcam.

About $100 - $150.

A budget of $100-$150 on Macintosh...well you're screwed. You need a larger budget.

Re: I'm looking for a good camera

I like Panasonic.
I own a LUMIX Fz35, and I've used an AG HVX200.

Re: I'm looking for a good camera

Whatever you buy don't go for a Canon Powershot SD750. I use it, and it takes high quality pictures and video, but you have to manually take the pics, their are no USB ports (so you can't take pictures through your computer), and absolutely no remote control compatibility (due to no infra-red receivers in the actual camera).

I'm working on getting my studio back up and running, so stay posted...

Re: I'm looking for a good camera

I recently found a really good price on the Canon Rebel T3i....about $580. It's a great DSLR for brickfilming and especially live action. I'll pull up the link later.

I would have a larger budget if I didn't buy a Macintosh.  I'm pretty sure you can find a good camera around that zone.

Re: I'm looking for a good camera

Try the Canon T1i. It's got great HD video, but it's kinda bulky for animating. It's also about $500, so yeah...
