Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Heat cannot be watched enough. Best use ever of a Moby song.

Crank

Amazing. I finally know what it's like to see a movie that is an actual 'thrill ride.' It's like, that is no longer an abstract phrase. I swear, I felt exhausted just watching.

Crank 2

WTF. The first movie had exactly the right amount of pulse-pounding craziness. This movie tried way too hard to top the original. Off the top of my head,

Spoiler (click to read)

the gun up the ass, the exploding mammaries (plus strippers/adult entertainment stars everywhere, including Ron f****** Jeremy), the nipple-slicing, the robot f****** head, etc.

I didn't mind too badly that they turned him into what basically amounts to a superhero, and all the scenes of him getting juiced were hilarious - as was the part which

morphed into a Godzilla-style brawl.

But there was just too much stupid stuff going on, including everyone from the first film having a bleeding brother (not to mention that completely superfluous Asian chick!). And actually, despite the pace and editing, there were some moments I thought really dragged.

Favorite part:

I'm not sure I'd want to see a Crank 3. It'd probably be a two-hour pulsating picture of boobs sprouting nipple-guns firing at Chev running around in a circle with mangy beats and guitars in the background while people scream 'F you, Chelios!' over the soundtrack.

I've seen it many time. mini/yes

Cabin Fever
I remember really liking it years ago, but it was pretty meh now. Then again, I've seen it like 4 or 5 times.

My Dinner With Andre
Love this movie. Very impressive for being a 100 minute long dialogue.

2001: A Space Odyssey
Best scifi ever? Wows me every time.

Strange Encounters of the Third Kind
Really loved it, especially being a UFO/alien obsesse.

Captain America: The First Avenger!

Pretty cool. Better than I thought it would be. mini/yes

I need a new name! HELP

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Tropic Thunder

Delightful. Funny and surprisingly original. Loved it. The jokes are well executed, and the swearing is actually very funny to hear, instead of being forced and obnoxious.

The Thing

Freaky !@#$. When they're testing the blood then what's his face turns into the Thing, I jumped, that is some seriously scary stuff.

Robocop

Robocop is a "like a boss" kind of movie. Enjoyed every second of it. The stop-motion bits made me happy.

Alien

Alien was absolutely creepy and beautiful. The cinematography was unique and well done, the part where Dallas is in the vent and the Alien pops out of nowhere and is all SUP MOTHA-SNUCKAS. That scared me a lot. I forgot about that part.

Aliens

My favourite out of all the Alien movies. I love the concept of the Space Marine, and the way the movie flows is just masterful.

Plus! My favourite game, Halo, has so many references to Alien, like in Halo CE, there's a poster that says: Lost Calico Cat, Jonesy. And then the actual UNSC Marines are almost carbon copies of the likes of Seargent Apone and Hicks and all o' dem.

Alien 3

Meh. Wasn't really scary. I was REALLY pissed when they killed off Hicks and Newt. Like, WTF? Why go through the trouble of writing the whole script and making te second Alien movie just to kill off two of the main characters? That's so stupid. And then what about the guy Ripley knocks up? He dies halfway through the movie! Why!? Why have that emotional build up just to abruptly end it? Silly, SILLY I SAY!

District 9

Love it. Too lazy to say anything else.

American Graffiti

This movie feels so great. Just a fuzzy, light-hearted movie that I think is better then the Star Wars Prequels. Richard Dreyfuss is one of my favourite actors.

THX-1138

Unique and odd. A mesmerizing and thought provoking film, one of Lucas' best.

Ferris Buellers Day Off

SWING BADDA BADDA

Ultraviolet

Overstylized and cliche. Hated it.

Captain America

Wow, that had some great moments. Cool and refreshingly new.

Spoiler (click to read)

Although the whole part with the hot chick randomly making out with the Cap' was sort of pointless, I mean sure, what's-her-face was mad, but that gets resolved like five minutes later. What's the point then? Sheesh.

Cowboys And Aliens

Didn't live up to my expectations at all. I mean there was cool parts, like the battle at the end was sick. No I'm not putting spoilers because I'm sure everyone on this site can rightfully assume that there will be an end battle.

But besides the ending, the pacing seemed off, and

Spoiler (click to read)

the whole scene with the overturned boat had no reason to be there, like: Oh, a BOAT. THAT IS OVERTURNED. They sleep in it, then an alien roars, then runs away. Never do they explain how it got overturned or how it got there, they treated like how Call Of Duty treats map packs. THEY'RE FIGHTING IN A DRIVE-IN FOR SOME REASON. THAT IS THAT.

Anyways, I was hoping to get some revealing stuff from Olivia Wilde. mini/bigsmile  But no. mini/sad  Sadly.

Cobra

Silly. Felt like he was supposed to be a badass, but he just seemed like some dude with a sore throat and bad puns. If I met a guy like him, I'd say: "What the hell are you doing?"

Also.. how come he can just kill anyone who he pleases, if he's a cop, shouldn't some of those guys deserve a trial? Instead of burning them alive and stabbing them with hooks? Like what the heckzor?

Then that's another thing... the bad guy's "New World" is supposed to be populated with the strong, not the weak. (That's why they kill the weak.) But why? Why do they kill people that are weak? Why not just open upa gym or something, make the weak strong instead of killing them. Seriously, there's some major flaws in this film.

There. I'm done now.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Watchmen

The extreme entertainment film. If you want to see something different, brilliant and refreshing, watch this movie. Alan Moore has an incredible mind and Zach Snyder has insane visual direction, a match made in heaven. Even though, I would never say no to a Terry Gilliam version of Watchmen (which is what we might have gotten if they green lit the production of it in the eighties), I can't see a movie adaption better than this one.

Raising Arizona
Love this, Nicolas Cage is hilarious.
Awesome hair, too.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Hobo with a Shotgun

This is probably going to sound contradictory, because I just slagged off Crank 2 somewhat, but this was some hella entertaining, balls-to-the-wall grindhouse material!

Just the right balance of gore, social unrest, and Hobo-soliloquizin'. Not to mention Romero-esque synthesizer music.

Oh, and coke-snorting.

One of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Flipped
The plot was boring, the characters were all rather rude and the whole timeline felt awkward.
Oh, there were also two continuity errors that everyone in my family noticed, not just me.

The Help
Hmm, not much to really say about it. It's better than most movies that are out in theaters, so there's that.
It has its funny moments such as

the housewife eats a pie made of poop.

Other than that it's pretty depressing, but I feel it does a good job of narrating the time period in a way.

Probably my favourite bad movie besides Plan 9 From Outer Space.

I actually really enjoyed it. It's been getting some mixed reviews, but I found it very entertaining. I also actually liked the ending. A bit cliché perhaps, but whatever.

Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans
Forgot how good this was. The scene where he sees the iguanas on his coffee table is still my favorite.
Nic Cage is awesome.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Adjustement Bureau
Eh. Took itself way too seriously, and was pretty ridiculous, though somewhat original. Also, Matt Damon looks delightful in a fedora.

Remember the Titans
Well that was pretty good I would say.
