Topic: Editing Program Suggestions

I was thinking about getting some new editing software to edit my brickfilms. windows movie maker doesn't really have all that i want in a editing software. what I'm looking for is an editing software that is basically the pc equivalent to final cut express, both in price and features. if you could post your suggestions that would be great! mini/bigsmile

Re: Editing Program Suggestions

I'm no expert on editing software, but the software I use is Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.0.  It has way more features than WMM, and is only about $50 USD, which is quite cheaper than Final Cut Express.  Or you could use the HD version, which has more features, and is about $100.  Or if you have a lot of money to burn, you could to with Vegas Pro, which is about $600.

Lightworks, Lightworks, Lightworks

It's free and professional standard.

Re: Editing Program Suggestions

I use Sony Vegas Pro and I love it. I have used the $50 version of Sony Vegas and it is the best bang for you buck. You can get a 30 day trail of all the Sony Vegas levels with full feature and you can see what you think of them.

You just have to get the hang of it. Read the user guides on the Lightworks website.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Lightworks you have to pay for features, like color correction. Plus it is not that good of an editing software.

Re: Editing Program Suggestions

Well, it works for general editing like putting in sound and stuff. I guess it might not be that good for special effects editing. At least it's better than Windows Movie Maker.

It is better than Windows Movie Maker but things like color correction are not special effects that important part of an editing software.

Re: Editing Program Suggestions

Hmm... What other important things besides color correction that Lightworks can't do unless you pay?

I don't remember but the whole reason why it is free is because you pay for what feature you need.

Re: Editing Program Suggestions

You can do colour correction and chroma keying in lightworks for free.

Better than Vegas for 100% less cost.

It edited the Kings Speech.

I think vegas is much better. I have tried both, and I think the price is worth it.

Re: Editing Program Suggestions

Premier Pro CS5.5 is the best Windows based editing program I know of, however, Premier Elements is good too.

Agreed...the reason the King Speech was edited in Lightworks is it is digital version of an old editing system used before digital editing and the director felt more comfortable with it. Sony Vegas has way more power and is better laid out then Lightworks.

Re: Editing Program Suggestions

Can colour correction remove light flicker?

Re: Editing Program Suggestions

No, it can't.
