Topic: iStopmotion/Sony Vegas Help

Sorry if this topic already exists, but I just got iStopmotion on my Mac, and I am wondering how to use it. I haven't used the Mac yet, as I just got it, but it has iStopmotion on it, and I have a few questions about it.
1) Do you put pictures into iStopmotion through uploading a file, or do you have to connect your camera to the computer and take live pictures (meaning clicking something such as "Take Picture" and then having iStopmotion automatically place it in the animation line)?
2) Can you save an iStopmotion file to a USB and move it to a Windows computer for video editing?
3) Does Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD 9.0 work an a Mac?

Re: iStopmotion/Sony Vegas Help

1. You most likely has to connect your camera and take live pictures.
2. No idea.
3. Probably... I don't know

If I do that, how do I edit each frame? (masking, color effects, etc.)

Re: iStopmotion/Sony Vegas Help

The pictures probably are recorded in a certain folder... find the folder and edit them.

I used it before!
1. Live pictures by pressing "space" button.
2. Thought of doing that, never did. It could probably work since it is just a movie file.
3. No, probably not. Sony Vegas is a Windows program. I think you should use Final Cut for your Mac. Im not, I use iMovie. But people as Thefourmonkeys and Keshen8 uses Final Cut Pro! mini/tongue

For editing, SFX and masking you need other programs than iStopmotion, like GIMP.
EDIT: To mask and stuff: Simply drag each picture you want out of the program to the desktop or other windows and programs.
Mouth animation("still-pictures" while talking): Drag the picture you want out to the desktop, open it in a drawing (or effects) program and save each frame with different "mouths" and put them back in the line you want.
Thefourmonkeys have a tutorial on it somewhere.
To make them move while talking(like in NickDurron´s Zombie Genesis): Take a pic to desktop, draw mouths, put back, move figure and take pic, take it out, draw one mouth, put back, move again, draw one, put back, move, draw one, put back... And so on! Thats how I did it with that program before.

I have Photoshop, so that won't be a problem. Does iMovie have Sound Effect/Voice/Music Tracks?

Yes, it does.

Yes, uncopyrighted ones.
A lot o "Jingles" like they call them there. Take a look at it! Go to "music" and you´ll find to folders with different sounds. "iLife- and iMovie Sound Effects." You´ll probably have to search around a bit to find something you want.
You can also put in your own voice, if you press the "microphone" icon. And you can choose what microphone you want. The Built-in mic is good enough for my videos, or I use the microphone n my logitech camera!

Re: iStopmotion/Sony Vegas Help

I use istopmotion now.
You can connect a camera to your computer with a firewire cable and capture frames by pressing the red camera icon (I find it easier to press the space bar). You can also import frames, so for your first question, you can do both.

You can export istopmotion files to different formats. Once you have the finished clip exported, you can put that on a memory stick and as long as it's a movie clip which is compatible with sony vegas, you will be able to use it with it.

I don't think SV works on mac. Check their site. I think it would be easier if you used an editing program for the mac, like final cut express (which I use).

Hope I helped, check the websites thoroughly if you want anything else, hopefully you'll find what you want. mini/wink
