You do know that if you have a low rep, you could try to enhance the quality of your post? Like, instead of writing '...rep meter is gone, because i was getting...' you could write something like '...rep meter is gone; because I was getting...'. It's the little things that can enhance your rep on the site (as well as large things as well). Grammar/Comprehension is an easy thing to start with. Remember, this is not a chat room or an IM, this is a web forum.

I for one, am actually pretty discouraged about how this turned out. If it weren't for pointless down/upvotes, the system would have worked pretty well I believe.

Re: Reputation Meter?

Well, the rep meter is gone, I see no farther reason to discuss it.
Can a admin/mod please close this thread?

also brick7 why are you never in chat anymore it makes Smeagol want to cry :'(

(not really but you know)

I peeked in today (just to comfort you, Smeagol mini/XD), but you weren't there.

In the past I felt a little awkward being the "old lady" (lol) on chat and thought you guys might prefer me not being there (I've also been busy pretty this summer), but I can pop in more often if you find my presence so gratifying. mini/cat

Re: Reputation Meter?

See, this summer I haven't been getting up before 1:30 in the afternoon because my schedule is ridiculous like that.  The good news is that I'm in chat far too much after somewhere around mid-afternoon.

Re: Reputation Meter?

Okay, I dunno if anyone else sees this, but I have already noticed an onslaught of increasingly useless posts. Since people are no longer afraid of lowering their rep, pointless posts rise again.

Re: Reputation Meter?

Ok. Do we have ranks here? almost like the rep meter just not numbers and that... ? say, you posted that many helpful posts and then the mods like "upgraded" your rank? that would´ve been really cool!

I need a new name! HELP

Re: Reputation Meter?

I don't think this community is mature enough to handle "ranks" furrybrosstudios.

That sort of already exists. Prove yourself to be mature and you get into the Community forum (the "off-topic" forum of the site). That's a good incentive to buck your ideas up, I don't think having your title changed to 'Good Member' isn't particularly interesting.

Here's sort of what I mean by this.

I've even found myself making more and more pointless posts without thinking about it. I think it's some subconcious thing that we will make better posts AUTOMATICALLY if there is a reward or penalty. Like, Pavlov's dog, maybe? Am I thinking of the right thing?
Anyway...

Not really.

Re: Reputation Meter?

Yeah, the connection there is tenuous at best.

Honestly, I don't have a huge problem with that thread other than the fact that the grammar failings make it difficult to read. All I saw out of the reputation system was a bunch of people whining about their reputations; wanting their reputations to become better- not with the goal of becoming a more helpful poster, but rather so they could feel better about themselves. If the outcome between the two scenarios had been similar, I wouldn't have minded, but I saw no noticeable increase in post quality to compliment the complaints.

Re: Reputation Meter?

I still believe a rep meter with upvoting only would be the best solution.

Just puttin' that out there.

Re: Reputation Meter?

I have seen no difference in posts since the cafe corner was removed or when the rep meter was placed/ taken away.

Re: Reputation Meter?

Like on Twitter or whatever?
No, I like what we had before, if only people *coughcough topit coughcough* were mature enough to use it properly.

Re: Reputation Meter?

I think a like/dislike button (and no reputation thing) would be a good thing. Either that or a karma system, where you can give or take karma, but your name is visible, and you have to state why you gave/took points in order to do it.

YES! IT'S GONE! mini/delirium mini/delirium

Re: Reputation Meter?

It's gone. mini/smile

I did rather dislike it for the most part. But I still feel slightly sad that me having the third highest reputation on this site is gone. xD

Haha, oh well.
