Sorry for being rude, but that was not a worthwhile post.

On topic - I'm considering bumping up my RAM soon. I currently have a meager 6gb DDR3 ram in my machine, but I'd like to kick that up to 16-24gb or so for heavy After Effects work.

the new  i5 processor is very well performing even heavy load.

That would help, but remember when rendering the GPU really counts. But isn't your CPU an i7-920? You may want to upgrade the GPU and CPU.

Incorrect. The GPU has no effect on rendering times in After Effects, only on previews using OpenGL and even then the implementation of OpenGL in AE is really not that great. My CPU is an i7920, yes, which is more than enough for AE.

RAM is usually the main choke point for AE and provided you're running a 64 bit system it will eat any RAM you give it.
