Topic: video stabilization

I am looking for a way to stabilize my footage in post-production. I know there i s a''Warp Stabilizer Effect in the CS5.5 version of After Effects but I want to know if there is any other way I could do it in post. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Re: video stabilization

Would this be stop-motion footage or live-action you're trying to stabilize?

Re: video stabilization

In iMovie, there's a stabilize footage thing that I find works pretty good. Works for both stop-motion and live-action. Although, I don't know if you use Mac or not.

Re: video stabilization

Mocha is the only thing I have that can keep a track on Lego footage.
I haven't tried the Warp stabilizer yet, but I think it should work.

If you don't have a mac, you can use the free program VirtualDub and then install the plugin called Deshaker. You'll need to download the 32-bit version of VirtualDub if you want to install the plugin. I haven't actually used this method for video stabilization, since I primarily use a Mac. However, there are some good videos on youtube that demonstrate Deshaker's capabilities.

Re: video stabilization

I'm talking about stop-motion. I'd like to use it in live action but that doesn't matter. I've tried the warp stabilizer in AE(in the trial version I downloaded) but I'm probably not going to be able to get AE (but it does work well). I'll probably look at Virtual Dub. I'm using Windows. Does anyone know if Lightworks has any stabilization effects/plugins?

Re: video stabilization

From what I remember, Virtual Dub has a stabilization plug-in (can't say how well it works though because my first and only attempt so far at using it was a fail.)
