It shouldn't be a contest about who has the most reputation. That will just lead to petty fighting and other things we don't want.
See, this is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping WOULDN'T happen with the rep meter. It just turns into a popularity contest, and the whole system gets abused, though I'm still kinda fuzzy on what the whole purpose of this system is.

That's the idea, yes. But do people actually follow that idea? No. This thread is proof.
