Re: Reputation Meter?

I asked for the previos one to get deleted, I find, that a reasonable comment to the rep shoud be Requiered before you + or - rep a post and those comments could be seen by the user and staff, overall rep viewability should remain public

Re: Reputation Meter?

Since I have some to contribute, I'll share it.

I think to some people on this site, the reputation may look like a like and dislike button. So people are rating posts now like videos on YouTube. And the most often is that people like Smeagol and NXT have like 10 on there reputation meter while people like me have like -5. I just disagree with this 'reputation meter'

Now watch my watch my reputation meter go down.

Re: Reputation Meter?

I really like this new feature.  I've kind of wanted to know how I'm doing with my rep on the forums for a while and I hope I can make some progress.

Mine is -8. I am hated. mini/sad

xD

Sorry, man.

Re: Reputation Meter?

Hmm, I'm not sure whether I like it or not, because if you refresh the page like, every two seconds then your rating changes. And people are more likely to vote for the "cool guys" than the less well known people, who might make as well thought out posts.

Re: Reputation Meter?

Isn't it largely obvious how anyone's reputation is if you just read the other member's reactions to their post. If someone is stupid it is bound to be pointed out on this forum.

Re: Reputation Meter?

I think the reputation meter will get people to post more meaningful things, but i think people will vote on the "cool guys" posts more than "n00bs" posts.

Just my thoughts

Re: Reputation Meter?

The feature could use a button that shows whic of your posts got a + or- rep, sadly, mine is -16 for some reason:C and the reasonable comment thing could change that noob/cool problem a bit

Re: Reputation Meter?

Funny how when people say stuff against this, and say they'll get a lot of negative rates for posting it, they ironically get good rates.

EDIT: I just got a minus two for trying to help. Both miniuses for one post. Someone thinks that I shouldn't have tried to help if I never used the program that the person needed help with. All I did was specify what I thought the problem was, because that could happen in a similar program. Well, okay. Have it your way. Now I know not to try to help if I never used the program.

See? This is the positive part of this. Try to figure out why you got minuised and learn from it.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: Reputation Meter?

Let's just wait and see how this turns out eventually. I'm open to it. I mean, I don't get on here for getting popular anyway but rather helping other people, being helped myself and in general discussing our common hobby: trolling brickfilming.

Riley and minifig have brought up some valid points. The only thing I disagree with is the superfluity of posts that are just quotes, like "I totally agree with XY, I also think this would...". I like those because they bring a discussion back to life. There are many topics which end with about 3-5 posts (or less!) despite being very interesting. I think the more posts there are in a certain topic and the greater the amount of different posters (the more 'popular' it is), the more members are encouraged to join the discussion.

I also agree with JaredSM. But that's clear, because obviously 'cool guys' have better reputation than 'n00bs'. And it is what it's called: a reputation meter.

Don't take this too seriously. After all, Golden is still a nice guy even when his 'reputation' goes down the drain. mini/wink

Re: Reputation Meter?

I do like this concept, but I am concerned about what some will do. Some (I'm not pointing out anyone) might take advantage of this, and possibly down-rep anyone to give them a bad figure on the site. When this just came out (or yesterday on chat when it was shown) I did like the part where you had to give a brief reason why you think the person should deserve rep points. That way, there can't be any "hate" rep, or just creating a separate account and giving yourself reputation. This way, I find the system much more safer.

Creating multiple accounts is against the rules anyway, so I wouldn't worry about that. And I don't think anyone is desperate enough to make another account just to raise their reputation. Well, I hope so. mini/shifty

There are rule breakers (I'm not pointing anyone here out specifically)

Re: Reputation Meter?

I understand that you can + or - posts, but I'm confused on how that effects your "reputation." I saw a post with -14 votes and the user (not naming anyone in particular) had only -7 on their reputation.
