For some reason, my set building isn't as good as I want it to be. As in I can't build as detailed and realistic as other people do. Can you guys help me if you can...like give me some tips. It would greatly help!
Architecture isn't easy, because a lot of variables come into play. Do you want it to look modern day? Or are you looking for a more peticular building style, such as Art Deco, my personal favorite. Pick a style and research it for characteristics in the buildings such as window style, That is how you get down and detailed.
Personally, I like modern...because I do more of modern type films or a little futuristic.
Many brickfilmers use lego sets. 
Well, I can't just go out and buy a set when I want one. Besides, Lego doesn't always sell the things I want to create.
Here's how I would do it:
What set does my animation require?
A street.
Okay, so how many buildings should I put on the street?
Let's say two.
What colors should they be?
One white and the other light grey.
Builds.
I got windows, doors. Something's missing...
Details!
Raise the white building up a bit, add some stairs and windows to that.
Windowsills, outdoor lights, canopy over the door, ect.
Benches, streetlights, fire hydrant, on the sidewalk.
The trick with details is:
1: Experiment with different pieces to make something
2: Just enough details to look pleasing, yet not distract from the charaters.
Like minifig051 said, it's all about the details, puting a clock on the wall, a shelf in the background, and end table, flower boxes, benches, trash cans, little stuff like that is what makes realism.
Another step towards realism is "weathering" on a wall. Instead of putting all one color of brick, put a few in of a different color, like on a bage wall, include some yellow bricks.

There are bricks with lines on them that give a nice weathered look when a few are put in a wall like you said.

I have the same problem too, i just cant build detailed buildings for my outdoor sets.
