Topic: Out of Order: Project Update Thread

Since it's the first week of summer vacation, I have begun to brainstorm for a large scale project to (hopefully) release at the end of summer. I have always had a fasination with elevators, and have wanted to tell a story that focused on an elevator. I have chosen writing a script based on the 41 hour long ordeal of Nicholas White, a regular man that was trapped in an elevator for 41 hours (it's a true story). I will post updates here, as well as pictures and videos.

6/22/11 - I have just started writing the rough draft of the script. I hope to get a final ready by the end of next week. I hope to open a casting call next weekend.

6/29/11 - Because I am too busy helping my family pack the house up to move in 3 weeks, the entire project has been put on hold.

7/17/11 - Got back from summer camp, and really need to finish the script. I have also changed title from "The Elevator" to "Out of Order" (special thanks to JK and coolasice11)

7/28/11 - Well finally, I have finished the initial draft of this damn script. I just need to touch up some areas. Casting call will be open next week for sure.

Sounds pretty cool. From the title of this I thought you were reffering to that idea you had in the "Post your story ideas" thread.

There is a brickfilm called "The Elevator" that is currently in production, though I don't know how soon it will be done. Perhaps you should consider changing the title?

Other than that, it sounds interesting. I'll be sure to follow this project's progress.

I don't think there is any problem with the title, wether it's the same or not. It happened many times that more brickfilms had the same name although they had different stories. Btw, that thing looks amazing.

I like the idea of this film. I'll be following, it seems like it might turn out pretty cool.

Don't you think it would be hard to animate your whole film/most of your film in an elevator set? I've never been able to build a convincing elevator set.

This will be difficult to pull off, but interesting if you can. I would reccomend making some test animations to get into the groove of animating.

Just made huge progess in my script. From 3 scense to 9 in under 30 minutes. That's great progress, IMO.

Update: A couple things are happening, the project is on hold again for a week (Boy Scout summer camp, I'd rather shoot shotguns than scipt anyway mini/tongue ), and I have some other titles that I need multiple opinions on:
A. Trapped
B. 41 Hours
C. No Way Out

Cast your vote and I will check them next Sunday. Also, if you have any suggestions for titles, I will take those into account as well.

Well, I think '41 Hours' is too similar to '123 Hours'.

And 'Trapped' sort of gives it away...

So I like 'No Way Out' best.

I like coolasice11's suggestion. It kind of lets you know what it's about (a broken elevator), but doesn't give away too much of the story. Besides, the other titles could apply to being stuck anywhere. "Out of Order" makes it sound more specific to an elevator.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.
