'Come on guys, can't we all just...GET ALONG? ![]()

Into the darkness once more. I walk into the unknown. To a far better life than I've ever known.
Bricks in Motion
We are a friendly filmmaking community devoted to the art of stop-motion animation using LEGO® and similar construction toys. Here, you can share your work, join our community of other brickfilmers, and participate in periodic animation contests!
A place to discuss, share, and create stop motion films.

I was okay with this thing before but that's just a bit ridiculous. I mean, you ban us all to stop us from making stupid threads and to get on with brickfilming and then you guys make one so you can have an excuse to mess around in the community...
This is what I'm talking about -- the norm here is that a thread about something that not everybody likes would be "messing around" because people would spam it until it gets locked. But, in fact, the people who are left are not people who post annoying images and make one word posts! So far, nobody has posted a single joke image in the 'My Little Pony' thread, and people are discussing the episodes, characters, etc.
I guess, but wasn't the whole point of this thing to get people back into brickfilming? I mean, making loads of other threads in the community isn't going to help like you said in the first place. In fact, most of the people not allowed in a brickfilming, whicch is great. But some of the people still being let in are not brickfilming, and the fact of the matter is that most of the people let into the community are the more experienced and/or well known members.
So the outcome will be, yes, more brickfilms, but it will be more brickfilms from the less experienced people and less from the experienced, which would mean a decrease in brickfilm's overall quality.

Well, since most of the "better" members already had the Community page before, their rate of films shouldn't be slower. But the "not quite as awesome" people will be filming more, rolling out more "not as awesome" films.
However!
This means that group of people are going to gain more experience in a quicker amount of time.
More filming will bring them closer to being better.
That could be possible, but it might be that the people who have the community won't be as active on the proper filmmaking forums as they should be to encourage the less experienced ones.
Nope. The people who have access to the 'Community' forum are people who aren't addicted to it anyway. It has barely been used since the closure.
Yes but it's still there. It's still staring at them as intensely as Majora's Mask. They can still get into it which will probably mean that they will be more focused on that than the actual filmmaking.

Yeah they probably will be more focused on it.
You know, just cause they can.
-_-
Seriously, guys, we already have the General Film Discussion and the Chat Room. We don't need the Community. With or without this forum, your life will not be destabilized. But BIM will be better without this forum, for sure... These changes makes Bricks In Motion much better and more mature. It's also an opportunity for brickfilmers to become better and to spend less time on internet (I'm not kidding).

Hang on a sec. I forgot that it's open to "exclusive" members.
By "exclusive", it basically means the people who are mature enough to handle the Community. It doesn't automatically mean that you have to be a super awesome brickfilmer, just that you are responsible enough. It just stops all the "LOL cats" from entering.
I'm fine with not having the community. It's just that they ban it, saying that it's for the better of the website, then make it exclusive to themselves. Kind of like if you banned all sugar from the people of the world, saying that it makes you fat, then keep it all to yourself.

You don't get it. The members allowed to use the Community forum know how to handle it. Using your analogy, the sugar would be given to people who don't eat way too much of it.
They can still get into it which will probably mean that they will be more focused on that than the actual filmmaking.
It's hard to be focused on one post a day. (That's been the average since it shut)
It sounds like we're ants or something. We have access to the sugar and we're going to "get into it" and probably be super distracted by it.
Only people who now don't have access to it cared enough about it to check more than once or twice a day. I didn't see the need to close the forum entirely as it's useful for some things and people who aren't part of the problem don't necessarily need to be deprived of that. There's no intention to create some kind of elite inner circle here.
Could one of the moderators please move the podcast threads over to the "Audio" forum?
Done. If anyone has a thread formerly located in Community that they think would fit in another forum, feel free to mention it and I'll/we'll consider moving it.
One more suggestion. I think that the Anime Discussion Thread would fit better into the General Film Discussion forum because anime is a genre of film.

I'd just like to point out that if we had wanted to make a super exclusive place where the 'cool kidz' talk, we totally could have done that without telling you guys and left the community forum open. There is more to this decision than just making community discussion more bearable for a few people.
