Yeah, it was basically a bunch of action tossed together, with a love conflict in the middle. Didn't care for it. Maybe the final chapter will wrap it up, but meh.

Did we even watch the same movie? "a bunch of action tossed together", really? It was 50% camping. (And I loved the movie, BTW)

All my respect for both of you has plummeted. You obviously have no soul.

Well, actually you should say the same about me, cause I don't like Harry Potter. I stopped watching it since the fourth chapter. I'm not really interested in it. But I have a soul.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

None of us have souls, but we do have conscience.

(BTW, to avoid confusion, I wasn't being serious in my previous post.)

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Sometimes They Come Back

I like how Stephen King doesn't make it in the least bit subtle how he feels about high school.  Anyway, that's just a couple of scenes.

As for the premise, it's pretty believable.  I'll try to spin it for you without spoiling a thing.  So, a teacher from Chicago is forced to move back to his home town because it's the only teaching job he can get.  THEN SHEET GETS REAL

If you have Netflix, it's streaming (which is how I saw it).

Now I'mna lay it down with a spoiler here 'n' there.  But I'll use spoiler tags to set things a proper.

Spoiler (click to read)

I don't really dig how McLoughlin chose to reveal Jim's traumatic experience.  I guess I'd have to read the short story, but I'm pretty sure you can go about it without Jim literally walking through a flashback.  Maybe have him have an actual flashback?  I dunno.  I mean it got the point across.  So I'll leave it be.

The first greaser kid gets extremely corny right off the bat.  "I can't wait for you to start teaching me, Mr. Norman.  I hunger for knowledge."  Like, was that line meant to be hilarious?  Good job, if that's the case.

The "haunting/possible insanity" angle was a bit too overdone.  Like the part with the TV where he's watching King Kong and then it turns into a home video?  I dunno.  That part played off sorta stupid to me.  The train sound effect was pretty spooky, if they used that alone during that scene instead of the T.V. going all home video it probably would have accomplished the same goal only better.

I thought the whole ghost greaser gang thing was all sorts of lame.  Like, the best thing about ghost movies is when they do what Paranormal Activity did where you never see the ghost, but it's just sounds and bumps in the night (and stuff moving to and fro moved by INVISI HANDS).  The Jock ghosts coming back as students and killing other students to take their seats is just stupid, I'm sorry.

And the laughter... the ridiculously stupid laughter...

I will say this, the movie accomplished its quest to make me hate eighties jocks and seventies greasers.  If ever I meet an eighties jock and/or seventies greaser I'll full on punch him (or her, you'll find no discrimination here in the Billo house hold) in the teeth.

I'd give the movie a 6/10.  It'd get lower, but it did get me emotionally invested, so it worked as a thriller.

The Legend of Lizzie Borden
My mom keeps recommending to me all these 70s TV Horror Movies, and this is a pretty darn good one.
The music at the end is creepy and kind of gave me chills. The murder scenes were nice, and the courtroom
trial was pretty interesting to watch. Horror movie fans, make sure you check this one out. The full thing is on YouTube.

Though I love Harry Potter and have done since The Philosopher's Stone was released, I must admit that in the final book the camping chapters were incredibly dull and boring. However, I was pleased to see that the film handled them better, pushing swiftly through while still showing just enough interesting points so it didn't seem rushed.
On top of that, I'd like to say that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is probably the best out out all the films so far, and I'm greatly looking forward to the sequel.

I don't make Brickfilms. I trade virtual hats.

Agreed. The last book was hard to read.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon.

Meh.  I saw the midnight opener.  Begining was crap.  Ending was crap.  And yes...  The middle was crap.  Funny at time yes that's gives it one star.  The CGI was very well executed every little detail mattered and the visual effects staff did very well with that.  The story wasn't easy to follow, and I didn't get the plot until 5 minutes from the end.

Go ahead and watch this movie, although it doesn't entertain you.

Why would anybody watch a movie if it wasn't entertaining? I wouldn't waste 2 hours of my life just so I can see some well executed VFX shots.

40 more pages and I'm done reading it and I just started last week. I think it's a good read so far. I can't compare them to the other books, though, it's been years since I read the ones that I read. I agree that the first 200 pages where somewhat boring though, but it gets better after IMO.

Effective horror movie. Its scares effected me at times, to my surprise, that rarely happens. I didn't think it was as good the first time I saw it, but I saw it during daylight and I wasn't really in the mood.

Crowhaven Farm
A creepy made-for-TV horror movie from the 70s. This reminded me of Rosemary's Baby a bit, but still had a good amount of scares. The full film is available (in 5 parts) on YouTube, I recommend horror fans check it out.

Transformers 3

Saw it cause a few of my friends were going.

Don't see it.]

Unless you like paying for a migraine and confusion.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I'm seeing it tomorrow or the day after. I know it's going to be really, really terrible but I want to see how bad the turd is.

If you know it's going to be terrible, why not wait til' it comes out on DVD?

I am a fan of the Harry Potter movies (and books) and i'm looking forward to the last part, however, I feel that they could have done better with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

Because then you have to admit to owning it. With the cinema, you can pretend you were suckered in, and that seeing it was a terrible mistake. With the DVD - you willingly bought it and have it in your collection which probably includes stuff like 'The Social Network', 'Star Wars', 'The Dark Knight', etc...

Plus, you only have to watch it once at the cinema. Imagine having a copy of a movie you know is terrible sitting there for you to watch all the time...
