Re: Post Your Story Ideas

Sounds good MovingBricks.

I've had a good idea, but the only way I'll ever be able to make it is if I become the next Spielberg. It's about a British soldier in WW2. His father was sadly killed before he was born in the trenches of WW1. The WW2 soldier is an ambulance driver, and one day he gets shot dead. It's all very sad because his wife is pregnant, and it's a repeat of what happened to his dad 20 years ago. But, the soldier doesn't go on to heaven. He stays on earth as a ghost, nobody can see or hear him. He then finds out that one of his army mates is actually a german spy, and he's murdering the other men in the platoon and making their deaths look like accidents.
So the ghost soldier has to stop the spy from killing all of his mates, and giving information to the Nazis about invasion plans. The ghost soldier meets up with a ghost WW1 soldier who helps him. The WW1 soldier turns out to be his dad, but at first his dad doesn't remember ever even having a wife. He doesn't even know where he lived.
Turns out that his dad's memory had been lost when a gas attack was used, I believe some soldiers really did suffer from this in WW1.

At the end of the film his dad remembers, the spy dies, and both the soldiers go to heaven (into 'the light').
The soldier then watches as his son grows up, etc. Happy ending. I would have the film start with tourists at a cemetery, looking at the grave of the WW2 soldier. There is a woman there, who tells the story to the tourists. She is the soldier's mother.

I think it's quite a cool idea, but I won't ever be able to make it unless I get a lot of money. And I don't mean making it with lego, I mean live action, and I'd donte money to charity for it. I would make it to entertain, but also to remember all those men who fought for us in wars. That's the reason I'd never make anything like this with lego, it's too much of a sensitive topic.

Anyway, I've got dibs on this for when I'm a famous film maker! If only.
But iz still haz dibz on this anywayz! mini/wink

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

I am adapting Kafka's Metamorphosis for film. it will probably be a claymation though.

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

I just got an idea for a short film. I got the idea from a story my mom told me that someone else told her. It's a story about how a kid turns a city from gloomy to happy just by smiling at people. It'll start out in back and white and gradually change to color. The music will change, too. It starts off with "Comic Plodding", then "Merry Go" starts to play quietly. "Merry Go" gains volume as "Comic Plodding" loses volume. At the end, "Comic Plodding" fades out, leaving "Merry Go" playing. All of these changes happen as the kid gets each person he sees to smile.

How does that sound?

("Comic Plodding" and "Merry Go" are both music pieces by Kevin MacLeod.)

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

Sounds cool, but very similar to a film I made. The only difference from what yours sounds like and what mine is is that mine has a magic wand.
Here's the video.

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

That sounds really cool! When do you plan on making it?

I don't often come up with something i'm genuinely pleased with, if it's arrogant to be proud of your work and want to tell others about it then this world is messed up. - Gareth Pugh

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

I might make it sometime this summer. I have to finish what I'm working on right now, then move up to 15 fps (currently at 12 fps) and get the HD version of Stop Motion Pro (I have SMP Action! Plus now, and the maximum resoultion is kinda low. I need to get SMP Action! HD).

Yeah, they are kind of similar, Filmfire. They will be different enough, though. Mine happens more gradually. What happens is, the kid smiles at people, which causes them to smile back. When that happens, a small change happens to the music and color. This gradually builds up to a color-filled world with all the people smiling and peppy music in the background. Conicidentally, my film will have a mime, too.

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

Well, I don't mind at all if they are a little similar. Sometimes that happens, someone gets an idea which has already been done similarly. It's happened to me before!
I like the idea of the music. Sounds really cool.

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

I really don't know where this came from but I had this idea of a mystical quest people have to go on to catch a magical turkey. I'm not quite sure why, I'm still working on it.

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

Well I haven't made a brickfilm in a while--scratch that. I haven't made a brickfilm in a long time. I have been doing animation challenges and tests, though. I want to make an actual story-driven animation. I've got pigs. Here's my idea:

The pigs are unhappy with the food they are getting. The plot to take hostage the farm boy the next time he comes around. I'm torn between making them demand a fine dining experience or just corn. (Both could make for some funny moments.) So the story will mostly be about how the town deals with it and how the pigs act.

Tell me if this is really, really, really stupid or not.

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

Sounds nice. You should make it like a horror movie though, like Night of the Lepus.

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

Sounds similar to George Orwell's Animal Farm (1945).

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

I definitely think it could turn out funny.

My thoughts exactly. In fact, when I am able to get some more sets and characters, I was thinking of making that into a film.

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

But wouldn't it be difficult to animate pigs?
They can be okay for some short thing, but in having no flexibility, it kind of makes them a bad choice for more important character(s).

^ What he said mini/lol
I think it would be a risk if you would have long conversations among the pigs. On the other hand: if you could animate facial animation on the pigs... That i would like to see.

OH DON'T TELL ME IT'S HARD TO ANIMATE PIGS. I mean, I have a whole film and the main character is a pig, there's even a scene where like, 40 pigs crowd into a city. mini/sad

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

I think I'd like to make one of the pigs 'Charlie the Unicorn' style. Looney personality with the same type of facial animation.

Re: Post Your Story Ideas

Based of a true murder case in 1977 Oklahoma:

Three campers, residing in an isolated tent, were murdered brutally, and discovered the next morning.
The local authorities claimed a Native American escaped convict was responsible, but he was acquitted,
30 years later, the camp never re-opened since, investigators take a close look into what happened that
night to find the real killer, and an ex-convict might have the answer.
