Topic: Is that a good laptop for me?
Okay. I need a laptop. It'll be my main computer. I'll edit animate and do everything with it. Tell me if it's what I need! Thanks ![]()

Ehhh...not really.

Get it.

I'd rather get something with an i7! The CPU is a computer's most important part for us brickfilmers...
Also, I heard the 14-inch Envy has got some issues... though don't quote me on that one. Anyway, I'd rather (and this is what I personally did) buy a 15-inch notebook (preferably a workstation, depends on your budget), because editing is a real pain with such a small screen!
Cheers

The processor don't seem to be able to make HD.
The processor should be a intel dual-core 3 ghz or faster. ![]()
Sorry, didn't see the link you put there. Like the others said, get a good i5 or i7 with 3ghz processor. Workstations are also very awesome. I'd advise get one with at least 2 GB ram but now you find a lot of laptops with 4 GB so that's a plus!

I have a question.
Will you need to bring it with you, or move it often?
If not, get a PC.
They are big, but cheaper than laptops. And you can find some really good PC's out there ![]()
Desktops are pretty good. If you're not sure if you want a desktop or a laptop...get a laptop...unless the desktop has just like extremely totally awesome stuff on it! Like 16 GB RAM and and i7.

Get an extreme desktop or get this laptop.. Simple ![]()

That laptop prolly isn't great for BFing because of the hard drive speed. 5400 RPM. You'd probably want something with a 7200 RPM hard drive, because that will affect your read/write time. Faster HDD uses more power though. So a bigger battery would probably be required.

I'd say wait until black Friday at Christmas. One of my friends got a laptop then for only $200 and it was a really nice one.

Most lappys come with a 5200rpm hard drive so it's really not that big of a deal. Get this one instead:

WAY better processor, better graphics, bigger hard drive, $200 less, and more ram.

If that's the price range you're talking about, I'd say get a macbook pro
Or a super desktop PC. Cheaper and better ![]()
I would never get a desktop PC for stop-motion because you can't take it to your sets. One can't rely on all the brickfilm action always taking please in one's bedroom! I, for example, don't have enough space for this so I do most of the (serious) brickfilming in another room. Also, I wouldn't want to have a PC (desktop) in my bedroom.
Oh...forgot you were going to animate with it. Yea, if you're going to be doing any animating with it get a laptop.

Well I would say that the only advantage of PC is price, so if your price range is that high I would really suggest a macbook. Like, they last longer and have a better OS. And, shiny.
Like, they last longer...
You don't really need a laptop that lasts 10+ years. By five years the laptop is obsolete and you'll have to buy a new one anyway, and besides, I have to Windows operated laptops from 2001 and 2005 and they're still running strong. ![]()
How is the Mac OS better than Windows? Oh and by the way I have a 11 year old laptop that's still running well too.

Oh god, not this stuff again. I'm going to douse the flames before they even spring up:
Both operating systems have their advantages and disadvantages!
