It actually looks pretty good if you use a different camera angle. By the way, whee did you get those gels and how much did they cost?
Most of the time, night scenes are brighter than they actually should be as so the audience can see what's going on. xD
Even with my camera sitting still at 15 second exposure during a full moon I don't get a good picture unless I've got a ridiculously epic camera which I don't have. xD
The gels were amazingly cheap. I swear, the seller musn't have realised the value, they were only £3.99, for 48 sheets! I got them off Amazon, and yes, AnooyingNoises, that is so true. If all night scenes were realistic people would just be going "WHADDAHECK IS GOING ON?". 
Yeah, I tried to shoot a morning scene today and it barely looked like it.
BTW, I'm working on a new film.

How big are the sheets?
I got blue and green sheets (1 of each) And I've plenty of space. The rolls are a good 5 foot long. (€7)
Check local stores that sell stuff for playhouses. I even got a whole swatch with all the different colours to chose from with my purchase

What is it?
The sheets I have are A4, the size of the paper that I put on the lamp. And wow, five foot long? Sheesh.
It's meant to be a pretty small cave, and by small I mean small. It's as wide as you see in the picture and only about 10/11 studs deep, (with random rocks inside of course ) but they're only sleeping there for the night.
Maybe you could use 2 sheets of blue instead of the white diffusing paper. It might look better.
Well, I'm already using two blue sheets, I'll see what it looks like when I take the paper out, might post a picture.
Double Post:Well, I did it again without the paper, and in my opinion it doesn't look nearly as good.
I think I'll keep the paper there while animating.
I find it amusing that the camera and minifigures are in pretty much exactly the same positions. xD I agree that it looks better with the paper. But this could be a very cool snow planet lighting.
Me too, in fact I took the camera off at first and the figure on the right fell over and I didn't know where to place him again.
Also, this isn't on a snow planet thing, this is a Medieval film.

Also, even though I said this was a Medieval-ish film, it's not exactly set in England. More of a sort of fantasy place, a bit like Hyrule, except no monsters, no ocarinas and no ginger bearded men trying to kill you with magic.

That looks good Onion, I see you've managed to remove the grain. 
I'd just use a little more easing when he lifts his arm up. Oh, and could you get those lines to me soon please? 
Anyway, thanks Billo, hopefully I'll be doing some more cool lighting things. Like a redish lighting in the volcano scene and in this montage thing, greenish lighting for this forest and I'll have them wander through a dark cave (all of this except the volcano are in a montage, MONTAGES FTW ).
jstudios, it's hard to tell because it's just one image, but do you have much noise in that shot? I need a way to get rid of noise in dark shots.
So for the morning scene do you have an orange or yellow one you could use instead of the blue?
