Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The last movie I saw was Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. I thought it was pretty good. I don't see why lots of people hated it. mini/tongue Geoffry Rush's performance was fabulous, as usual, and I liked his character a lot in this movie, his wooden leg, being with the British, and the fact that he still could do awesome stuff and beat up people. xD I found I didn't really miss Will and Elisabeth much, but I was really sad that you never saw those funny pirates. mini/sad the one missing an eye and the bald guy. They rocked. But I'd say it was good. mini/smile

I'm surprised I'm the only one who thinks the climax of the third Pirates movie is one of the greatest action sequences of all time. Incredible choreography, excellent CGI effects, one of the best original soundtracks, and well placed/timed humour (although I never got the undead monkey). It still blows my mind - and is the only reason why I kinda like the movie.

What I find strange is that some people (not anyone here) are bashing Pirates 4 when they didn't like the first three - even the first one. Why did you even see it? If you hated the other three, chances are the fourth isn't going to win you over....

I liked the first and third movies.

I want to see a movie based on the Secret of Monkey Island games.

Beavis and Butthead Do America

I dunno how Mike Judge went from Beavis and Butthead type humor to the humor in King of Hill but wow there was a transition there.

Meh, I thought the movie was too melodramatic.

It's A Wonderful Life

Dang, that's a fine movie. If there's one perk about getting older, it's being able to appreciate films such as this one.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I also watched POTC 4 lately, and I find it to be great!

As others has pointed out, the actors' performances were impeccable as usual, AND I think Penelope Cruz more than makes up for Will&Elizabeth, especially with her Spanish babbling. I really liked the later because I'm learning Spanish myself. And of course, she was very sexy. mini/wink

When looking on all four films, I have to say the one I liked the least is the third one. This is because IMO it focuses more on CGI and Special FX fireworks than on story and the original charm of the first two ones, especially the first.

Well, perhaps an instalment such as the third film was needed if you look at POTC as an entire franchise but personally for me, On Stranger Tides was a giant step in the right direction. There were a lot of side events taking place to keep you going. Overall, the movie was just fascinating.

Spirited Away
This was pretty dang good. Nice to see that some 2D animation films are still actually getting made.

X-Men First Class

Great film, was 10x better then the previous ones. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender were very good, if somewhat understated with certain lines. Generally it flowed very well, however still felt rather long - plus there was those jumbled scenes at the beginning, which felt too thrown together for my liking.

Also, warning for younger members, I would have reservations about seeing this. Pretty violent. Especially

Overall I loved it, very entertaining, with good acting, music, and story. Although as mentioned, rather risque content.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I thought X-Men: First Class was an entertaining film. Michael Fassbender was awesome, and Raven/Mystique's story tied everything together.

Didn't care for the overtly bombastic music, which overpowered a lot that would have been more powerful with less (or no) music. There were also a lot of cheeze which I didn't care for.

Also, the 'allegory' which is seen throughout all of the X-Men films kicked the subtlety out the door in this installment, as seen in the following quote:

Every age should see X-Men: First Class, they are gonna love it, I didn't really notice the music though.
