Topic: Another light flicker thread.

First off I got a dark shirt, blacked out window, everything on manuel, etc.

My setup:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/EagleDude/BIM/img_0151.jpg

NOTE: I don't have my lamps pointing right on the set anymore.

Flicker is coming when I take the minifig out of the set. Onion posted that if you have bright colors you will not get that much flicker.
And my bricks are a little shiny, so if that is the problem how can I get them "unshiny"?

I think that was it.

Hmm...camera settings, maybe? (for both problems)

Re: Another light flicker thread.

I think this is the same problem I have. When my minifig walks out of the screen, my light flickers, then gets all dark. And my setup is almost exactly the same as his. mini/confused

Re: Another light flicker thread.

Shininess may not be the issue. It could be that the camera may be accommodating for the change of colour when your minifigure is taken from the set, and then again when it's put back in.

Now, my personal experience has taught me not to dwell on it (Light flicker), and move on. Now you might be sceptical, thinking to yourself that I'm crazy not to take note of it, however what's happened to me is that somehow over time they seem to decrease. This is due to many things, some of which include:

1. Technique. Over time you learn little things that help. All set-ups are different, therefore there isn't a failsafe way of avoiding light flicker.
2. Colours. Take note of the colour of your minifigures, if they have red, black, yellow and brown for instance, then include these colours elsewhere in your setup, thus when your minifigures are removed, the accommodation for light the camera will need will lessen.
3. Less movement. This essentially means that you try and make the minifigure move without taking it from the set. For instance using your fingers to push up a leg when it's on the baseplate. This isn't always possible, but when it is it definitely helps.

That's all I can say. Hope something here helped.

I'll be back animating soon! Exams and computer faults are keeping me away </3

Turn all of your settings on manual.

All of my settings are on manual, and that might be my problem. I was just thinking, the light settings are the same when the minifig walks out of the screen, and that may be resulting in flickering/darkness. I may have to, once the minifig starts going out of the screen, to turn the light settings back on auto to prevent flicker. I haven't actually tried it yet, but I will soon.

Re: Another light flicker thread.

Uhhhhhh...I thought I was talking to Eagle Animations, not Mighty Wanderer. Unless you are using separate accounts...uhhhhh...which is against BIM rules.

Re: Another light flicker thread.

I'm not. mini/rolleyes Sorry about that.

Re: Another light flicker thread.

I would tell you to put the exposure setting on manual but I don't think webcams have those settings.

Re: Another light flicker thread.

DUDE I HAVE THE ANSWER TO ALL OF YOUR PROBLEMS!!!!!!!
I had the same problem originally. In order to fix it I:
1)Went to settings
2) Unchecked off RightLight Tech
3) Changed everything to manual.
4) Did not change the gain settings at all!

THE REASON WHY U GET LIGHT FLICKER IS BECAUSE WHEN U HAVE RIGHT LIGHT ON, UR GAIN SETTINGS ARE ON AUTO. THIS MAKES YOUR WEBCAM CHANGE THEM AT TIMES WHEN AN THE IMAGE WINDOW IS ALTERED SUCH AS WHEN U MOVE IT OUT OF THE FRAME

If all that DOESN'T work, just play around with your gain, exposure, and white balance settings. They should all be closer to the left than the right!

I would do what Onion said, and if it's that bad, fix it in post production.

Re: Another light flicker thread.

I was just drawing your attention to that statement. It seems that you didn't read it, because most of your post was telling him to turn his settings on manual. If you had read that statement, you would have said just to play around with our settings. But that doesn't make sense, because if all the settings are controlled, you won't get light flicker no matter what they are set to.
