Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I would be fine with your reviews if they didn't intentionally spoil the film.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Isn't saying that the entire movie is just two guys walking in the desert spoiling the movie for you? Besides - its based on a true story, and the way the movie plays out it pretty much expects you to be familiar with the true story since it leaves a lot of gaps.

Yes...the sin-ful act which I have committed ONCE, and have rectified this morning. I apologise for not putting a spoiler tag in: it was DEFINITELY not 'intentional'. I was just so annoyed with the film that I wanted to transfer all the anger into my post, and so was just typing furiously (I'm sure there are loads of spelling/grammar errors too which people will pick up on and claim I do all the time).

Its a one-off mistake which I promise I wont do again. I apologise. Now can everyone please move on to how much they hate my 'Avatar' rants?

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

It kinda gets less awesome which each viewing.  I'm kinda bummed out by this mini/confused

Also, I was watching with a group of people and this one chick was like saying the lines as they'd be said and that also dampened the viewing fire a bit.

I hate it when people do that, unless it's me.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I was just in Wales with my family, so I saw some films.

The chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn treader
Okay, not amazing, but still pretty cool.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
I really liked it. I thought it was a really good film, certainly the best I've seen at a cinema for many months.
I really liked the humour they added, it was a great touch. Altogether the acting, action, humour and story (which thankfully was easy to understand and you didn't have to watch the others to understand it) kept me entertained throughout. I also though it was a good thing they steered away from all the davy jones stuff.
The only thing that I really didn't like was the bits they had in it which only had a point to them if you see it in 3D. Like the snake, why it may have been cool to watch it in imax 3D, we couldn't afford to pay £10 each (there was 7 of us) so saw it in 2D. It's annoying because you can see that that bit's made for the 3D audience only, to us watching in 2D it was unneeded. But it wasn't just this film that does it, all 3D films do, it just annoys me. But still, a great film, about as good as the first I thought.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Black Pearl
Also love this one.

Kalifornia
OK thriller, but the movie is basically saying yes to death penalty, and I don't like that. The ending dialogue was extremely awkward too. And how the hell did they get a house on the beach when they're broke?

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Insidious

A decent film, I guess. The ghosts aren't like in The Grudge but still scary. The starting haunts me, tho... mini/eek

Back In Black!

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Kung Fu Panda 2

Way too fast paced, felt like it was thrown together at the last minute. Felt more like a direct-to-home-dvd than a feature film. It did have it's good parts, though.

I loved the parts where Po is using the inner peace crap to get that water droplet to the ground. (Especially at the end, that was great.)

I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Like i said in a previous post I thought it would have been better as a stand alone movie rather than part of the PotC franchise. One major beef i have with the movie is that they changed Jack Sparrow's character too much. In the other movies he was a bumbling pirate BUT he was a pirate and as such he was out for himself first. In this latest movie they have turned him into a pussy IMHO.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

PotC 4 looks simply terrible.

It is.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Its basically 'Jack Sparrow and the Last Crusade'. Its got all the silliness of the other POTC movies, plus the last few scenes are lifted off Indy 3 (I was expecting the fountains 'test' - ITS SAID IN THE TRAILER, ITS NOT A SPOILER - to be believing in god and stepping off a cliff).

If that sounds appealing to you, go watch it. Personally, I expected it to be mindless entertainment - and it was. Yeah, it was really stupid, but it kept my interest and entertained me. Definitely not the best movie of the year, but to me it didn't feel like a waste of time. I do understand entirely why Pillow hates it though....

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

X-men

Good superhero flick, it kinda gets to the third act a bit to fast. Wolverine is of course really awesome. Flipping of Cyclops was hilarius.

X2

Better than the first movie, although Wolverine had better badass moments in the previous film. But this time the pacing was good and we had an exited longer story. I'm glad they didn't overdue emotioanly the death of the character at the end and just were like: yeah this movie is done.

4/5

Blood From The Mummy's Tomb

This was a pretty !@#$ movie from Hammer Studios, to much talking, lame deaths, the gore was repetative and the antagonist wasn't scary. The intro however was filmed beautifully and the movie is watchable for the constant appearance of Valerie Leon's cleavage.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I definitely agree with you on how they changed Jack's character in the 4th film. He came across as a bit of a coward in the new one.
I haven't seen the 3rd film yet, and I can only slightly remember the 2nd. Maybe if I watched them then my opinion on the 4th would change. But I still liked it, it seems people either love/like it or hate/dislike it.
The only thing I'm not really sure about is why it's called 'On Stranger Tides'. I didn't really get why they called it that as appose to something like 'The Fountain of Youth', which would have made a bit more sense.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Hobo with a Shotgun
Still pretty awesome. I would have enjoyed it better, I think, if it were more like the original trailer than it was. I still quite like it though. Rutger Hauer kicks ass.

That's kind of what I thought about it. It was nothing special, but neither were the first three in my opinion, so I couldn't care less about them making adjustments to the characters. It was better than most popcorn flicks, and it could have been a whole lot worse, so I didn't mind it considering I didn't expect much. Could have done with more Penelope Cruz, imho.

Seeing the Hangover 2 tomorrow, probably not going to be any good.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I'm surprised I'm the only one who thinks the climax of the third Pirates movie is one of the greatest action sequences of all time. Incredible choreography, excellent CGI effects, one of the best original soundtracks, and well placed/timed humour (although I never got the undead monkey). It still blows my mind - and is the only reason why I kinda like the movie.

What I find strange is that some people (not anyone here) are bashing Pirates 4 when they didn't like the first three - even the first one. Why did you even see it? If you hated the other three, chances are the fourth isn't going to win you over....
