Actually you can discuss VFX here but I know their is already another topic for that so I would prefer that we only discuss video editing. Although just keep VFX talk to a minimum.
I just tried my hand at Lightworks...
It's really complicated, but I MUST learn...
I can't use WMM anymore...
I do love Lightwork's features, but hate the process of adding sound clips.. At least until I actually learn how to do it properly.
Anyone know of any useful tutorials? I found some on youtube but the guy went through it ridiculously fast and completely lost me...
likewise, doesn't mean you can take it home.
We can take school laptops home.
What happened to WWM Brickyman?
He means that now that he tried Lightworks, he doesn't want to go back to WMM. Lightworks is better for editing than WMM. WMM is only good for very basic editing. You need programs like Lightworks for more complicated effects to turn out well.

Yes I have used WWM in the past.....Not that good for video editing.
Yeah, what I mean by "can't" is really "won't" haha.
It just, to put it bruatally honest, rapes the quuality of my films...
Plus Lightworks is much better, and has better features.

Yes I agree. But don't you have to pay for plugins though?
Anybody know if Glue Face is pretty good? I'm using GIMP 2.6 right now for facial animation.
After effects isn't very good for editing as each clip becomes its own layer, premiere is much easier.
Depends on what you're editing. It's a lot more powerful in terms of connecting clips together.
I have AE CS3 and CS4 - both Pro -, Photoshop CS3, Premiere CS3 Pro, Illustrator CS3 (useful for motion graphics and vector images), Cinema 4D, Maya (most recent version. Can't tell which one).
My main tool of work is AE, which is, contrary to popular belief, not at all just for motion graphics, nor is it the poor-man's visual effect suite.
Wow! How did you get that many programs?!?!

Most likely, he bought them.
I use iMovie 09 for editing, and when I publish a new video to YouTube under the HD settings it never is HD quality! Any help???
I can't imagine having to use WMM again. I hope to in the next few days to get AE CS5.5 though!
Awesome!

Except, I'm pretty sure AE isn't an editing program. Assuming you use windows/have access to a windows disk. Lightworks everyone here with a windows PC/access to a windows disk should use this imo.

Uh...:/ it actually is pretty much. I know because I am using the trial right now.
whilst it is possible to edit in AE it most definitely is not an editing application!
You will waste far more time trying to cut in AE when you could be using a proper edit application to cut the thing right.
Use AE for Effects (Theres a reason its called After Effects - you make "effects" and put them on "After" the edit).
I don't know what the edit options are for PC as i use Mac, but Adobe Premiere, Apple Final Cut (Pro & Express), iMovie, Sony Vegas and many others are all good edit programs.
Use the right tool for the job and you'll do a better job.
