Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

If it's not Amelie or Micmacs, then I wouldn't have seen it. mini/tongue
Might as well guess them, though it doesn't look like either.

Amelie
The fabulous destiny of Amelie Poulain.
Good movie.
Good score by Yaan Tiersen.

Micmacs
Same director (Jean Paul somethingsomething)
Woman hid in box.
Something about bees happened.

Mr. Night Owl is driven by a noble goal.  He wants to educate us. All the people in his hipster peer group frequently visit arthouse cinemas and we just slurp into pallid multiplex cinemas and watch Michael Bay movies. I don't know this french new wave film, but I support the thought behind this. You have my axe Mr. Night Owl, until the end of the world!

That was the 21st!

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

It's not like the French New Wave is this really obscure movement by any means; anybody who claims to be into film should at least have some idea of what it is. I just did a Google search of the clues I provided and found the film, so I'm not sure what's holding everybody up.

Also, I'm really not trying to condescend, because I know that at least some of you watch stuff that's older and less popular.

Not sure what to say to si665; I do remember him boldly proclaiming that abstract painting wasn't art and saying that Dean Koontz was "second only to Stephen King", so I don't think we'll ever share tastes.

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

I'm guessing it's a Godard film but I don't which one.
EDIT:
2 ou 3 choses que je sais d'elle
Godard
1967
Joseph Gehrard

Pmsl :-)

I'm stuck in a town with a small multiplex, and the other town within a 20 mile radius have multiplex cinemas as well, so if there is a cultural void it would appear that I am in the middle of it :-)

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

True - though there's always torrenting. mini/wink

Pillow gets it.

Same here. One of the only reasons why I want to go to a University (College) in London is so I get access to all the film festivals, grind-house, and art-house cinemas.

Not sure if this frame is from the actual film, but it's the same setting/people, so you'll probably still be able to get it.

No way.

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

Clue time.

Look for the song that shares the number of the Californian Penal Code for "offering a bribe to influence testimony" on the The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine as the female lead in the film inspired half of the name of that song.

Re: Guess the Film! (Game)

Another clue for when you locate the actresses name.

This is a clue to get the directors.

If Fred Astaire was an astronaut and flew on Discovery in 2001: A Space Oddysey he'd dance like he did in film which title shares the name of the most recent big event in the British monarchy and that would have been directed by _____ who also directed the film that the actress who inspired the title of the song that shares the penal code number as bribing to influence a testimony.
