I had people people walking out of the theatre, and it's indeed understandeble why.
Spoiler (click to read)
these people left half trough the movie when the woman started floating.
But I really enjoyed it, aspecially visually.
Silly me. Tree of Life.

That bit in spoilers sounds like something out of a Tarkovsky film. Looking forward to it immensely.

What movie is this?
*facepalm* It's Tree of Life. It was in the post right before Darkman's.
Tron Legacy
I have to admit I was a bit surprised. I didn't like it that much.
I think that mainly the reason I disliked it was because it was all really abstract. It was weird. I know they were inside a different world, but I still found it really strange. It was a bit like The Matrix, but I preferred The Matrix because it was partly based in the real world, partly in the matrix.
The effects and stuff were all really cool, as everyone else said. The best part of the film for me was the bike bit, I would have liked to have seen a bit more of that.
But overall I found it a bit like Avatar. You either like it or you don't. Personally I found it a bit weird and stupid (like right at the end, his dad just made that explosion thing by touching the floor, he could have done that earlier!). Depends whether you like these kinds of films, I'm a massive fan of sci-fi stuff, but I just found this too weird. That's just my opinion though, some of you may love it, I just didn't get into it really.
Orphan
Sick, disturbing, but...
Somewhat entertaining.
Kind of an annoying "plot twist moment" when it's revealed that
the orphan is a 33 year old.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
Well, I went to go see it this afternoon because I was invited by some friends, and it actually turned out pretty good. In my opinion it was much better than the 2nd and 3rd movies of the series, but still couldn't quite hold enough water to match the first one. I liked that they didn't drag Will or Elizabeth or any Davy Jones related stuff back into the movie, because that would have ruined it. I would actually recommend watching it though, because when I came out of the theater I didn't feel like (most) of the time I spent in it was wasted.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
It's not as bad as everyone says it is. I definetly liked it better than the 3rd one. Penelope Cruz's acting could have used some work though. The mermaids were well done and Johnny Depp's acting was top-notch as usual, if a little old to see him do the same shtick for 4 movies. It was fun to see the scenes that were shot here in Hawaii. I got to see the Queen Anne's Revenge at our local beach. Overall, the ending seemed to fit, and it entertained me, as a movie should.

Don't double post, not even once.
I want to see Tree of Life like I want to have a threesome.
WTF? Pirates 4 was so horrible.
...IMO

I walked into the theater thinking I was going to hate it. I'm not saying it's the best movie ever, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Penelope Cruz seems to be the only redeeming aspect of Pirates 4.
THX 1138
I was surprised how different this film was compared to all of George Lucas' other films.
Dystopian, cold, emotion-less, pretty anti-Star Wars. It had a bit too slow pacing for my taste, but overall it was a cool film. ![]()
EDIT: Thinking of it, Equilibrium has ALOT of likenesses to this film, though with more action.

Nosferatu
Eh. Admittedley kinda boring but I guess you can excuse that of a film made in 1922. Count Orlock was a neat creation, Max Shreck did it perfectly and his iconic makeup has scared me since I was little.
The Shining (1980)
I actually had a load of fun watching it. Despite seeing it by myself in my house (which didn't nearly freak me out as much as I thought it would), I found myself speaking aloud a load of jokes. Plus, there were some really suspenseful moments, and some scenes of technical brilliance.
There are loads of openings for jokes. The opening looked like a commercial for a holiday in Canada - only with really unfitting horror music over it in addition to some really bad title cards. The scariest part was the décor (the design of the bathroom was far more haunting than the lady in it), the 'n' word is used twice, I thought the cook was quite creepy until I realised we're supposed to like him, and the music felt more like auditory violation than 'disjointed' or disturbing. I kept having to mute the TV whenever that high pitched 'tension music' came in, because it felt like a Monolith was trying to communicate with me! My eardrums suffered far more than my nerves whilst watching this movie.
I'm probably complaining more about the source material here, but there was no point in Danny being a sidekick. Sure, he can connect with the cook - but the cook vanishes until the third act (why didn't Danny try to communicate with him?), and whilst he sees all these strange things...so does everyone else! Jack sees the lady in the bath, and sees an entire ballroom full of people! And that whole 'talking to his finger' thing....that's called an 'imaginary friend'! Danny's sidekick ability didn't seem to have an impact on the story since everyone else was nuts too. For some reason that bothers me...
Also - it contains some of the worst 'fake-out' scares I have ever seen. Really? Your trying to make us jump at a title card? Thats hilarious...and really unfitting. The rest of the movie isn't like those horror movies that are all about cheap tricks - its meant to be psychological, artsy, and ambiguous. Those kind of fake scares are meant for movies aimed at Horror fans: the kind of people who just want to be scared - which is certainly not a bad thing, but isn't what this movie is trying to be.
My biggest problem (and only major one) is that I had a load of fun watching it, yet I clearly was not supposed to. Kubrick was probably rolling in his grave whenever I laughed at this. Its a really good movie, and I'm really glad I watched it, but I think I need to watch it a few more times before I can consider it a classic....
(I dont care about double posting)
Reservoir Dogs
I really dont know what to say. There is nothing wrong, and everything is right.
Pulp Fiction
Like 'Reservoir Dogs'...only better. My only complaint is that the cast is too recognisable. I just think "Oh, Christopher Walken is giving that kid a watch" or "Bruce Willis is mad that he's lost his watch" or "Samuel L Jackson is reciting a Bible passage" or "John Travolta is in the toilet". But this is a very minor nitpick in the attempt to find something wrong with something perfect. Honestly - I wanted to hate it, but I have to join the billions of other people who love this movie.
And am I the only one who found Travolta's dancing the funniest thing in the history of funniest things - considering how good his dancing was in 'Saturday Night Fever'?
A lot of the actors in Pulp Fiction weren't very famous at the time, though.
Yeah, I know the movie was such a phenomenon that everyone in it was catapulted to super-stardom - but Willis, Travolta, Walken were veterans at the time.
Again, its a really minor complaint. I'm sure that after multiple viewings I will be calling everyone after their character names...
