Gorillas in the Mist

Sigourney Weaver was the perfect choice for this film, she played her part beautifully. Filming with live animals is always a risk - especially gorillas, who can be pretty territorial - but every shot with them managed to fit in great.

They were actually people in amazingly well done gorilla suits done by Rick Baker.

I never can tell with sarcasm over the internet. They looked too real...

I don't make Brickfilms. I trade virtual hats.

No Room To Die
A pretty enjoyable spaghetti western. The final showdown ended awesomely, and I liked it how for most of the film you couldn't tell whether the preacher was good or bad.

You should watch more movies.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Wickerman (Original)

Well...obviously its much better than the remake. And its much better than 'Zardoz' - which is basically this movie only if Summersisle was the world, if Christopher Lee was a giant stone head controlled by an Eric Idle look-alike, had Sean Connery in a G-String (I kid you not - google it, and remember to wash your eyes thoroughly afterwards...) and was completely different.

Really, I have nothing to contribute other than what has already been said by dozens of critics. I like how Lord Summersisle is so pleasant even when his religion is being rejected by Howie. Howie is also a great character because, despite being so rude and irritable, we overall want him to succeed.

Just one little niggle:

Spoiler (click to read)

How did they know Howie was a virgin? I mean...he's married! (He's wearing a ring and we see the ceremony in a flashback). Its perfectly within his religion to not be a virgin once married. He resists the temptation by the Landlords Daughter because he is married - not because he is a virgin. Also, why was the Landlord trying to put Howie to sleep when they relied on him to be at the ceremony?

Also, this is the only non-zombie/holocaust movie I know of where it contains naked breasts in plenty of scenes....yet it is not the slightest bit arousing. Its not a complaint, in fact - I think its a good thing.....

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I saw this really odd French movie called Panique au Village ("A town called Panic")
It was a stop-motion done with some of those stupid little toy cowboys and indians and stuff. The animation was kind of terrible, but I think it was supposed to be. The story was so improvisational and ridiculous, but it held my interest and I was laughing the whole film. It was really great, even though it was stupid. Reminded me of something one of the weirdos on this site would make mini/lol . They have it on that Netflicks instant streaming thing if you wanna watch it. Lol lol lol lol ....

I know that movie (I actually haven't seen the movie, I saw the series). I think the animation is awesome that way, also because it's original. I think it's from Aardman studios.

I just started watching Tron Legacy and boy is it awesome.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I've heard mixed to negative views on POTC 4. I'm going to see it because, flawed as it may be, POTC 1 was a HUGE part of my childhood - and along with Star Wars (the original) made me want to be part of the film industry. Sure, this could completely rape my childhood....but if its a spectacle of awful then I only want to watch it even more (since, lets face it, talking about the bad stuff is way more interesting)

Yeah, that's pretty much the only reason I went to see it. Now I'm off to see the Tree of Life. Yay.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Moonraker

I love this movie. Its stupid, its stupid, and its really stupid - but god dammit its so awesome!

It takes every single Bond cliché and injects it with steroids. You have the ultimate Evil Mastermind plot: Poisoning the world and creating a genetically perfect human race. They dont make them like this any more!

And the third act is fantastic. Its James Bond....IN SPACE!! With space-ships that fire lasers, a huge battle between astronauts in the vacuum of space, and a ship directly lifted from '2001: A Space Odyssey'. As a Sci-Fi fan, it does not get any more awesome than this!

And, with the exception of the whole space part - the people who complain about this movie clearly have never seen a James Bond movie. If he can survive falling from a helicopter by landing on a marquee - he can pretty much do anything. The villains are always dumb: explaining their entire evil plan before placing Bond in an elaborate killing process that he will inevitably break out of. If this is your main criticism then I guess you think every single James Bond movie (all 22 of them) suck.

In my opinion, those who call this the worst Bond movie are clearly missing the point....

The Tree of Life
I probably was the only person of all ten in the theatre that thoroughly enjoyed this. I can understand people disliking this, though. Having seen some of Malick's older films and entering with an open mind would definitely help.
