Brink's reviews don't seem that exceptional. It seems like the regular everyday shooter to me, mini/confused

So, I've spent like 8 hours with L.A. Noire. And yep, it's awesome. The sound design and voice work is amazing, along with pretty much everything else (Except graphics at times, and I'm not even that bothered by it). Only downsides of L.A. Noire are some of the graphical issues on Xbox 360 (Which I'm playing on, it doesn't seem to be present on PS3), but it still looks darn good.

So, L.A. Noire is the top contender for GOTY so far. Portal 2 is great, but it doesn't have enough length and 'meat' as L.A. Noire does. I'm only 8 hours through L.A. Noire (That's pretty much longer than it took me to beat Portal 2), and I've still got things to do.

Ugh. Portal 2's being bashed for an "offensive" joke about adoption. Now, I know adopted kids, and I don't get the big deal. Maybe because the ESRB said it's suitable for kids 10+. Judge for yourself: LINK

That was the stupidest thing I have seen all day. This is my favorite quote. "The game is rated E for everyone, but the game is not rated E for orphans." What the hell! There are so many other games they could complain about.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

OMG. Seriously. Like five seconds before that GLaDOS said "Well what's wrong with being adopted?" and her reply to Wheatly's comment was meant to be like, "Well, you're adopted too, so you can't exactly make fun of orphans like this." Jeez.
Also, my friend has been looking forward to Brink and I can't wait to show him that. mini/tongue
Also also, is there anyway to re-download that Portal 2 update on Steam?

I can hear my brain trying to process this. You mean there are a few graphical problems on the 360 copy, but not (or at least fewer) on the PS3? How is that possible?

If it's true, then it's fantastic to see developers are actually bridging the gap between the 360 and PS3 copies of the game.

Also, hooray! psn is back online - though I don't actually want to play anything on there at all really, I only went on properly for like 10 minutes to activate the PC copy of Portal 2.

Everybody gets a free copy of LittleBigPlanet and Infamous because of psn.

I heard about that, but I thought there were some other things on offer to, as an apology.

And about the whole 'adoption' upset - hey, if I enjoy a game, I don't really mind about the dialogue, even if it does have a few quips thrown in. I never play really horribly insulting games anyway.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I think it's kind of odd that they were surprised by that bit, given that's it's a good eighth of the way into the game, by which time they should have realized the game had a very dark sense of humor.

Also, they kept on referring to the game as "E." It's "E+10," dang it!

L.A. Noire was originally a PS3 exclusive. PS3 is the lead platform for L.A. Noire, just as Xbox 360 was the lead platform for Red Dead Redemption (There were a few graphical issues on the PS3 version). L.A. Noire was ported to Xbox 360.

To be exact E10+.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

Haha, that's hilarious.

When did Portal become educational? I like playing Tetris, but I don't consider it educational.

Seriously, if I were Valve I would tell them to suck it and play through a game before they give it to their child. Or better yet, teach the kid that there are bad people in the world who are going to make fun of them for stupid reasons. A character doing it in a video game should be the least of their worries.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I think that the juvenile nature of the taunts is supposed to reflect negatively upon the characters in question, who are, y'know, trying to kill Chell.

Seriously, it's an addicting game, and it's really fun. I sometimes play in on my Game Boy SP (Yeah, I still have that. mini/XD ). I always like getting abducted, shoot back my captured fighter, and kicking some butt with DUUBLE FITERS!

What about Dead Space? I know the expansions are crappy, but  I have every DS (including ipad and ipod). Any opinions?

I wouldn't call it educational - but games like that are considered much more stimulating to the brain.

Dead Space? You mean the terrifying survival-horror game? It's not for me, to say the least.
