Re: Café Corner
Wow, I just noticed a new modular set came out. I'm way behind. I need to get LEGO magazine more often.
So yeah, I'm back from my mind.

I lost track ages ago, like I can only remember the Cafe Corner and I think the second one was called the Green Grocer or something like that. I should probably just get all the older ones before they stop producing them, and just keep them boxed up somewhere.
I looked at the Lego website just a second ago, with a bit of hope that the Australian prices might actually be fixed, but it seems like it's actually gotten worse. The Grand Emporium was listed at $150USD, and the Fire Brigade was listed at $150USD as well. The Grand Emporium was listed at $250AUD, and the Fire Brigade was listed at $300. First of all, how the hell is that supposed to work? and second of all, the Australian dollar is worth more than the US dollar. The conversion rate is like AUD$1:USD$1.10.
That would mean the Fire Brigade set, without including tax/import costs, should only cost about $130-$135AUD, but it's still $300. Thats like a 250% mark-up.
Just had a look at bricklink to compare how much it would cost to buy the last three modular sets +The London Tower Bridge. It would only cost me $730 to buy all four sets over bricklink, including postage. It would cost me $1290 to buy the exact same sets through Lego.com.
