I designed and recorded a few decent sounds; they can be found at this page. I think the best are the sci-fi weapons effects, and perhaps the servo motor effect in the Miscellaneous folder.

I use The Freesound Project almost exlusively. It's pretty great.

*cough* I feel a bit scatter-brained, but I've just changed the links I sent you. I've been in the midst of a large transfer of files to and from various servers today, and I now realize that hosting the .zip files on my 110mb server is a far better idea than hosting them elsewhere. The new links are on the same page of my site.
