Topic: Helium Frog- Lost file

Okay, so last night in Helium Frog I animated over 600 frames of my film before going to bed, it said the file would be automatically saved when I close it. But this morning, I came to do some more of it and I couldn't find it anywhere. Anyone know what could've happened? mini/sad
EDIT: Okay, so I searched "Smoovie" (the name of the file) and a shortcut pooped up, I clicked on it but it said that I must find it myself in captured frames. I looked all over there but couldn't find it. mini/confused

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

This is from memory, I switched away from HeliumFrog a little while ago, but try this and see if it works:
First go to your downloads folder, or wherever you saved the unzipped HeliumFrog file folder. If you're in the correct place, there should be a folder "Captured Frames" at the top. Click on that, and your captured frames should be in there. However if you haven't chosen the setting to "Import as individual frames," you'll only have a video file; this would require you to go into HeliumFrog, open that project (which should be easier now that you've located it), and go to settings and import as individual frames. You can also continue to capture frames, once you've opened the project in HeliumFrog.
Hope that wasn't too confusing, and that you can find your project!

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

Nah, I think you mis-understand. I can't find any trace of the file whatsoever apart from the shortcut telling me to find the file myself.

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

Did you do as he said? Because that's where all the automatically saved video files are: in your captured frames folder of the Helium Frog program folders. The only way it won't be there is if you specify otherwise.

I already said that I looked in there.

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

Searching for a specific file name doesn't work, as far as I know. I'm pretty sure you have to manually find the folder. And you should try to locate the pictures while not being in the program.

EDIT: Did you tell HeliumFrog to save the frames/video in a specific place?

NVM

But yeah, searching for the file doesn't always work. It might make your job easier if you tell your comp to only show the AVI files, instead of all the picture files as well.

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

Only three results came up, so it wasn't that confusing. The shortcut to the video, the voices, and a shortcut to the voices, that's it.

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

Yes, but locating the frames while in HeliumFrog may be a bad idea. As in trying to locate them in the window that pops up when it says you have to manually find the frames.

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

It's saved as a video, called smoovie, so I searched smoovie in it, I scrolled down to search for it, I went to the bottom (Cos all the ones with names are there) and all over the place, but it wasn't there.

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

Have you tried locating it just on your computer? Without being prompted by HeliumFrog?

Yes, that's what I meant when I searched "smoovie".

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

Okay, just making sure. I'm not sure what the problem is, but if you didn't tell HF to save it elsewhere, and you can't find it in your Captured Frames folder, then it's probably gone. Sorry man mini/sad

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

Okay, it's happened again. I was editing some frames and pressed apply. Helium Frog told me there was an error and just closed down, now the file is gone again. Seriously, why is this happening?

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

Um I REAAALLLY reccomend quitting/saving after you hit more than 100 frames.

It's a free program, it's gonna have some bugs. Sorry man, just take precautions, and don't keep all of it in one, easily lost chunk.

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

It saves automatically every time you do anything.

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

Maybe you should, redownload heliumfrog? I've had to do so before when bugs were there.

Re: Helium Frog- Lost file

It may be located in the folder that your webcam stores the files in when you use the webcam software. For example: my Microsoft lifecam always stores it in a folder named "Lifecam files"
