Topic: How to get amazing super slow motion shots without a $100,000 camera

Did you know you don't have to spend $100,000 on a fancy camera to get sweet slo-mo in your videos? A plugin called Twixtor will get you pretty close!

Watch these amazing clips here: http://vimeo.com/16340475

and then read all about it here: http://content.photojojo.com/guides/how … ny-camera/

This is very cool. Enjoy film makers

Twixtor is expensive, though.

I've messed around with pixelmotion, which comes with after effects and is intended for similar uses, however I have never gotten good results with it.  I suppose if I really need to smooth something out well for slow-mo twixtor or a similar program like motionperfect might be necessary.

Pixelmotion?
Which version of after effects does it come with?

Re: How to get amazing super slow motion shots without a $100,000 camera

Pixelmotion is great depending on what you use it on. Use it on an explosion (or in my case an egg smashing) then don't expect anything good as the movements too random. However use it on someone walking or running then it can be great.

Re: How to get amazing super slow motion shots without a $100,000 camera

It's possible I'm just "not doing it right" regarding pixelmotion.  My results tended to be pretty jerky and moving in clear increments.  They were very non-random movements like walking and running in my case.

if the movement's small enough, pixelmotion actually works pretty well.  i actually used it in the unknown.

A while back Ladon experimented with using Twixtor to smooth out animation.  It looked pretty good.

I used pixel motion in Pancake Island during the first shot. The boat moved a lot slower and the blending effect the waves got from it looked kind of cool.

I tried Pixelmotion to smooth out animation.. it looked like melting plastic.. Would love to see Ladon's test Smeagol.

Just thought I'd comment on this, but following a few links in Si665's post, you get led here. So there is a free version you can download, although I'm not sure how good it works or anything. I though I'd point it out.
