Topic: Directory - Film Editing

The time has arrived for the ability to edit the information of your film in the directory has come.
(Note, this does not change the information of your film in the Release Forum)

After a little testing here and there, a bug or two(thousand), the feature is ready for your every day use.

How do you tap into this new found gold you might ask?

Well, the straightforward way, is for you to find your film in the directory and load up that page.
Upon loading it there should be, to the far right, edit buttons which activate the edit fields for the film.

When you're done editing the information you wish to edit, just hit submit and move on.

In addition to this release, each user who has submitted films to the directory, or been mentioned as a cast or crew of a film in the directory, will now have a filmography in their profile page.

Re: Directory - Film Editing

This is wonderful, thanks for doing this.  The new filmography system on film pages is great, too, I'm glad you are able to finally implement for us a lot of these ideas we've had since the beginning of my adminship.

Re: Directory - Film Editing

I've gotta say, I really like the filmography system you've made. That was a nice surprise mini/bigsmile

Re: Directory - Film Editing

So now we can change the links and info for our films? Or just one of the two?

Re: Directory - Film Editing

I love the new system!

At least all your guys' work paid off! mini/sunnies

Re: Directory - Film Editing

The updates are a bit dodgy, and i would like to point out a few things that bugged me.  First thing i noticed is that when editing info, the page width becomes fixed at a width larger than my screen, rather than form fitting, like the film pages normally do.  I know fised width on all pages is a possibility, but keep pages uniform, and width small enough for smaller screens (13" laptops etc).  Secondly, the 'submit' and 'revert' buttons when editing are confusing, and should be more defined, as i thought they were one button at first glance, and had to re edit the info.  Maybe an actual button like image instead of just text would help that.  And I felt the filmography section should have the same border and background as the profile section on the profile page, as it is it didn't quite feel like part of the info.
It is good to see work being done, and the new features are great additions.  I understand that almost everything comes out a bit buggy at first, and am glad that we have competent programmers writing this site!

Re: Directory - Film Editing

Some of the aesthetic stuff we probably won't mess with until the site design is reworked.  Fixed page widths are the main thing that is planned to be implemented in this regard.

Re: Directory - Film Editing

Welcome to BiM, gracielovelego! I recommend you read through guide written by one of our members. Also, you can introduce yourself here.

As for you're question, you can find an answer by skimming through the topics in the Contests and Festivals section of the site.

I just submitted some films and credited my friend Rinto51 who is also on this site. The credits show up when I go to my profile, but on his profile there are no credits. Is this bcause he did not provide a director name?

Also, whenever I go to the edit button on the film credits, when I submit it says
"Currently this feature is only available to the beta team. When they are done with it though, it is all yours."

What's a beta team? And when will this be operational? Thanks mini/smile

Re: Directory - Film Editing

You should be good now.

It seems I forgot to make that part fully available.

Good catch.

Re: Directory - Film Editing

K, Thanks!
Sorry, I have 1 more question: When I subitted some films, I put both me and Rinto51 as director. The credits for this show up on my profile, but on his profile it says he directed zero films. Is this because you can't list people as co-director?

Re: Directory - Film Editing

Co-directors should now show up under the profile filmography as well.

Re: Directory - Film Editing

Seems like we can't edit submissions that haven't been accepted/rejected yet when we go to Manage Film.  Instead, we're getting the "This film has not been reviewed by the Bricks In Motion staff, but you can discuss in the forums" page.

Re: Directory - Film Editing

ooh, that needs fixed then.  It made sense before, but directors should hopefully always be able to see their own film pages.

Re: Directory - Film Editing

We tried the EDIT button to add a new link for one of our films that is already in the directory (Gaston's odyssey), but instead of adding the new link, it deleted all the existing links to our film! We tried several times, but it doesn't seem to be working...

Re: Directory - Film Editing

Hmmmmm

What web browser did you use?

I just added a link called test to your film successfully using chrome.
Everything else seems to be working.

Re: Directory - Film Editing

Well, we've tried both with Mozilla Firefox and google chrome. But the problem seems to be in the name of our film! The link works if we write Gaston instead of Gaston's odyssey. It seems the editing mode doesn't like the " ' "!!!

Re: Directory - Film Editing

Ah, hmmm, there seems to be a bigger underlying problem here involving the apostrophe.

I'll look into it.

Thanks for reporting it.
