Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Romeo + Juliet
It was very interesting to see one of Shakespeare's works set in the modern day, and this proved to be surprisingly successful. Leonardo DiCaprio was, as always (biased? What is biased?) fantastic, but the best performance came from Claire Danes - I believe she's done some work for television in America, but I haven't seen her before. However, she was as good of Leonardo. Everything was played right up to the hilt; for example, the candles and blue lights in a swimming pool where Romeo and Juliet meet up was pretty corny.

Also, the fact that Juliet actually woke up just as Romeo drank the poison was a bit over-dramatic.

I was amazed to find that I enjoyed this. Finally, English lessons have got something right.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I can't even tell you how awesome it was. I literally haven't seen it in like five years, it was a breath of fresh movie-air. I'm little sick of the ones I currently own. Anyways, this movie is gold! Everything about it is so memorable it makes me so happy, like right now, writing this review, I have a smile on. Now to the review...

Matthew Broderick is fantastic, best performance of his life in my opinion, his character is so cool, and suave, but also naive and a little self-centered, the opposite of this personality would be Cameron's, who is played by Alan Ruck. And...

Y'know, screw the review! EVERYONE WATCH IT!!! mini/dizzy

Little Children

Jacky Early Haley's best and most daring role so far, not easy to make people feel sad for a pedophile.

Gran Torino
I loved it. There's not really much to say, I just need those three words to describe it from my point of view.

Man on the Moon
I've never heard of Andy Kaufman here in Italy before I knew the existance of this movie. I quite like his style of humor, although I wouldn't have found it that funny if I paid a ticket to see him. I liked the way the story was developed, something I usually don't like about other biographical movies (like Ray: it had wonderful acting, but the developement seemed a bit too fast at times). Jim Carrey was perfect in this role. Probably his best movie performance along with "The Truman Show".

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Tarantula
Surprisingly good, and the special effects still look realistic today.

Friday the 13th
Eh, not amazing, though it had some moments that were pretty great, ("Kill her, mommy! Kill her!" was creepy, the Kevin Bacon neck stab was cool and and it scared the !@#$ out of me when Jason jumped out of the lake]). It's surprising that this spawned nine(?) sequels, though.

Hot Fuzz
Still awesome. I wonder what'll be the last instalment of the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy.

The Crazies
Pretty good. Not as good as Night of the Living Dead or Dawn of the Dead, but still enjoyable.

Death at a Funeral
Still funny, but not nearly as good the second time around. First time seeing this is hilarious.

Cashback

Great adult comedy.

Happiness

This is as dark as black comedy gets. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a movie before.

The Terminator
Never seen the first one before, finally got around to getting the DVD. 'Tis awesome.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

To Kill a Mockingbird
We watched this at school because we had read the book over the summer, but we had to turn it way down because other classes were testing, so I could not hear it at all!...
But other than that it was a fairly good movie. But I was severely dissapointed; whenever I see a black and white movie I'm always expecting The 3 Stooges or a cheesy sci-fi/horror film. mini/sad

Latest Studio Ghibli film. Typical Studio Ghibli film. Nice unagitated storytelling. Beautiful pictures. Liked.

A bunch of single episodes connected to some kind of Samurai, Amélie Poulain, Vengeance, Yakuza and retro japanese pop mixup. During the part of agony uncle Besson Kumagai I almost wet my pants, because of all the awesomeness. The last part has a nice long fighting shot across a bordello(something like 5-10 minutes). Twisted plot. Lots of surprises. Colourful. All in all bodacious entertainment.

Arthur

I've never seen the original, so I don't know how it compares..

It was enjoyable, the jokes were funny, but it seemed like the writers didn't know what direction they wanted the story to go...

Spoiler (click to read)

It was like, oh he's gonna grow up because of the money, nope, now it's for the girl, oh no now it's because granny died, oh wait, it's the girl again.

Also Russel Brand is too full of himself and it shows.

It's not a GREAT movie, but it's enjoyable..

And seeing as I got the ticket for £6 (Woo for student prices) it was worth it.

Zack and Miri make a p*rno (adult movie)

It's actually an entertaining funny film! But if you're not 18 or older there's no way you should watch this. mini/smile

Release in Japan: July 17, 2010. So about 9 month ago. Don't you speak 日本語? mini/cat
Well, I saw it at a filmfestival(japanese with english subtitle). Officially the film isn't released yet (here in germany). Maybe it's the same situation in your country.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Are you talking about the one Hayao Miyazaki's son directed?

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

That was Tales of Earthsea. I believe Studio Ghibli films are released in the US and other countries about a year after the Japan release.

Tron Legacy

Very interesting, except I didn't understand why they named it after the guy who was a villain, then became the hero for a good 5 seconds, then died.
